Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Just got a really weird call on my land line. Phone rang, I answered, recorded message telling me that, Savitas death was not caused by Irelands ban on Abortion ! went on to say she apparently died of E coli !

I hung up so didn't get much of the rest of it.

Anyone else get this phone call ?

Same message? Think there's actually more than one, they've been doing the rounds for a while now.

No not the same at all, this one starts out by saying " Do you know that the death of Savita has nothing to do with Irish Abortion Laws but that she died from a rare form of E coli." was also read out by a woman though.

Must be the same source though !

If you want to make a complaint about the call to the Data Protection Commission, you can use this form. Calls like this are illegal in Ireland, and come with a hefty fine.

Here's some info about some recent robocalls from an article in the Washington Post.

It's incredibly sinister how much of an interest American groups are taking in this. They pour money into their Irish counter-parts and employ tactics like this which are the norm in the States but which are seen as unacceptable over here. If we ever have a referendum on this, I'd be very worried that the pro-life campaign would completely overwhelm everyone else because they'd be so well funded.

I hate to think of friends of the Hallapanavars getting these calls.

Just had same call from this number
    00 44 353766801606
Probably no coincidence it's starting just as the data protection commissioners office shuts down for weekend/Xmas

It looks like a really poor attempt at making it look like an irish number (353) is calling, when it's actually a VOIP provider in the UK (0044). It could be expensive to call back and it's unlikely much can be gleaned from it.

Pretty sick, I take it that only landlines are affected?
