Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

hi lads, been on here awhile but this is my first post.

got a massive bill in the door today for the princely sum of €100.
i'm going to cut it off, now my question is, instead of paying the disconnection fee, if i stop paying my bill they will just cut me off avoiding the disconnection fee? right?

Bad idea. It will affect your ability to get loans in the future and they will probably sell the debt to a debt collecting agency.

Why is the bill higher than expected? It's not uncommon for UPC to make billing errors

yeah, definitely dont not pay the bill...just ring them up and downgrade your package. if u cant afford it then they will let you spread payments. otherwise if you're within the year then you'll have to pay the 100 fee. annoying but thats all you can do unless you plan on never ever buying a house (well in the next 6 years anyway). i dunno but your credit rating might be used for visa applications for america or aus...dont want to scupper your chances there either...

Could you just pay off what you "expected" the bill to be, then ring them up, explain the situation and pay the rest off before the next bill comes in.

only they can answer that but i think they would prefer to be paid than not be so ringing them up and starting a conversation about it cant do any harm. loads of people are struggling with bills nowadays, its nothing unusual...

Seriously? Would you not just ring UPC to find out? I just dont get some people!:D

aaaaaaaaaah you've just joined UPC, that explains EVERYTHING.
your first bill is the tv you have used from installation date to date of first bill and your next month prepaid, hence the big bill at the start. however 100 is still quite high as installation is usually free. my first bill with upc was 76 euro and i had the same package as you, around the 40 euro mark. just ring them...you should know this from ringing them in the first place to get it installed. although sometimes the agents dont tell you everything. just had an eircom agent tell me the wrong thing a few weeks ago.

I am a UPC customer for years my contract ran out in June and I received no notification that my bill was going from 30 to 60 Euro The bills went unpaid as I didn't have the funds in my account, With no notification of any sort they have disconnected me on a Friday night at 9pm. Unaware what was happening I rang and an answering machine came on saying my account had been disconnected till the outstanding balance was paid. I went online paid the balance plus a reconnection fee I am now sitting here on a Friday night with no broadband till God only knows when. I think a letter or call about the arrears was the professional way and disconnecting on a Friday night when they were closed is very sharp practice and unprofessional. Has anyone had this brutal harsh practice bestowed on them by UPC ?
