Eastern European chilli sauce

Hey I was wondering if anyone could help me. When i was younger i interailled through Poland, Croatia, Slovakia....and in all the markets was this chilli sauce/paste thing. It wasn't that spicy, like you could use a big dollop without dying of heat. Anyway i just cannot find it anywhere and i was wondering if somebody knew…

Was it a red pepper paste/sauce thing by any chance? Your description is making me think of Ajvar

You'll get it in Eastern European shops here
