Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

didnt even read the post and said "scam"

First rule of the internet, if you think its a scam, its a scam
if you dont think its a scam, and just a good opportunity that will benefit you in some way , its a scam.

It came up as a regular mobile number: <snip>

Wasn't there a guy in England that converted his land line to a premium paid number to get back at cold callers you can also divert calls to another number.
I don't know what the scam is but I would presume there is one there somewhere.

Are you a professional developer with advertising somewhere? If so, I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss; IP is in Ireland, and google plus has an event in Ireland.

If it was me I'd get her to call me to discuss, if I was a web developer that is.

Depends OP. My initial reaction was that this is a scam but the IP and phone number indicates that this is an Irish operation. Did a google seach on the name and found a profile on an escorting web site for Ireland.

Do you openly advertise as a web developer online? Have you done some work for a friend of this person before perhaps?

    Yes and no.

I was going to reply that I am too busy to take on new work at this time but, having seen similar texts mentioned on WordPress groups on Facebook I decided to just delete the text and ignore the Google+ request.

Looks like it might well be genuine.

Looks like an escort, based in Ireland. If the OP advertises Web development or design services, then the potential client has probably sent the same message to a number of Web developers / designers - remember, her mobile is her primary means of business communication, so it would make sense to her.

I'd be weary but reply with an offer that she call you and you can discuss it. If the number is a normal Irish mobile number, I'd call her back. As long as you can agree that you hold on to your work until payment, or you control the hosting/domain, you should have no problems. My feeling is that it's probably worth your while to pursue this, as while the gig is likely to be a small one, it'll be relatively well paid and you could well get recommended to her colleagues.

I've known more than one dev who's ended up getting a lot of lucrative business from that market.

I am too busy at the moment but if anyone here wants to make the call/text, fire away.

I've removed all the Personal Identifiable Information (PII) from this thread. The individual's website is in the public domain so I'll leave that.

This in response to a complaint, I don't remember this happening before, but I have updated the charter to cover posting the PII of third parties.

    All is well, consume.
