Summer activity ideas for 7&9 year old boys

My sister is coming from England with her 2 boys for 5 weeks starting Next week, would anybody have ideas of things to do or places to go within 90 mins from Athlone. Any ideas at all please

Is the bog railway near Shannonbridge still running ? - That used be great fun back in the day.

If it's not running it should be resurrected and properly marketed as a tourist destination during the summer months - Unique scenery.
