Laptop choice

Ok so I've a budget of 500 ish on a new laptop. Needs to be i3, hd3000 graphics if possible, 4gb min, hard drive space doesn't matter too much, hdmi and USB 3.0 but Bluetooth not a necessity. There seems to be so much selection it's ridiculous. I'm asking you guys to pick me the best ones please. The one that has caught my eye most is the Inspiron 15r and the vaio Vpceh series

This should easily fit your bill, it's even got 6 GB RAM, for 442 Euro. Or €460 here, if you like Dabs better.

Saw that in the ther thread thank you, full list of specs aren't given on the website though and specs vary a lot! Does it have hdmi can anyone say?

Same CPU, less RAM and I prefer ASUS over Acer.

The ASUS Core i5 offer is discontinued (except for "used" stock and 90-days warranty is a risky business), of the Acers is only 1 left (good luck). And if you don't make up your mind soon, the ASUS i3 w 6 GB RAM will be gone too (18 sold in the last 2 or 3 hours).

Thank you. Surely the used stock would be ok from dabs? Though you'd know better than i!I should probably go for the Asus you recommended so :-)
Would it be better to spend another 60/70€ and get a fair bit better of a machine?

If you want to spend a bit more, HP w 2nd gen. Core i5, 6 GB RAM and 750 GB HDD at Argos for €515.

cant find specs on the graphics for it torqay. seems like a good deal to be fair though. if it doesnt have better graphics than the asus then i wont bother, thats the only thing the x54 doesnt have. can you upgrade the graphics on the asus do you know? ill only be playing old games like company of heroes anyway so would they work on integrated intel?

You could also be 'That Guy' and go into PC World just to run http://systemrequirementslab.com on the display models. Assuming they are connected to the internet.

HP G6 is.. meh. It's a lot of plastic. Like the new Inspirons. And the C-series Toshibas. Great way to save a little dole but if you can put a little more into it, look for a more reliable chassis.

Ok, what have we got now? 2 GB RAM less and a Core i3-2370M (Passmark score 2990 versus the i3-2350M, Passmark score 2933). I'd say save your 40 yoyos and get 2 GB more RAM with the ASUS, there next to nothing between the two processors.

Nope. But if you're lucky you'll find a notabudget laptop that's on clearance, with a generation-old spec on it (which performance-wise, would still well outpace current-gen budget-level hardware)

and yes I'm quite racist to cheap-feel laptops. Especially if they bend. I don't like my internal components to be bent. It tends to be quite unwelcoming.

HD 4000? This has to be a typo, take it right from the horse's mouth.

Looks nicer is relative and yes, the battery is better, 48 Whrs over 37 Whrs.

But if you're spending 500 yoyos, you're very close to Core i5 territory. Seen some HP w 6 GB RAM at Argos for €515 today. And here we're no longer talking marginally (i5-2450M Passmark score 3588).

There is that possibility.

But to be sure to be sure, you should contact ASUS customer support. They can be very friendly when they sense a chance to sell you something.
