Crap coverage, so far the women's race has been interrupted for an interview with a footballer, a soap actor and an interview with some old women. BBC coverage of these things really suck.

Giving Gemma Steele the Paula treatment as well I see.

Just spotted Mark Christie up with the lead British men, passed 7k in 20.4X so hopefully he can stick it out and get a sub 30 clocking.

You left out a boxer interview and aerial shots of the city every 10 feet. And the clocks/distance delays.

Race Director is fookin useless. Grr...

Just stumbled across this race while waiting for the F1, Lagat 27:48 over 40 seems unreal, wow.

Like many recent British athletes Gemma Steele has made some seriously impressive gains out of nowhere-wonder how they always manage to do it?

What are you on about? Today's run was about 30 seconds slower than her pb from over a year ago according to PowetOf10.

It's fairly clear she's being groomed to be the next Mo/ Chris Froome/ Paula/ Wiggo.

Well she's not come out of nowhere. And what is the problem with her being highlighted as the best British runner around at the moment seeing as that is what she pretty much is?
There is no grooming going on, other than the more tv coverage and interviews you do the better you get at doing them.

She has been coining it on the US road circuit so if out of nowhere means that she hasn't been running races this side of the pond then yes.

    http://www.englandathletics.org/england-athletics-news/enter-highgates-night-of-10k-pbs-now-have-a-shot-at-representing-your-country

This is on Next Saturday. There will be a live stream to watch it. Its a great idea with people able to stand in lane 3 a have a beer. Part of the track is going to be going through their pop up pub this year. Free entry for the event. It looks like a cross between elite athletics and the beer mile. Also it being the selection race for 3 championships.

Quite a few Irish down, I noticed Brandon Hargreaves, Mick Clohisey and John Travers listed to run and a load of others too (including ecoli). I haven't seen John Travers run a track 10k before so should be really interesting to see what he can do!

    Will definitely watch it.

Gemma Steele has been improving slowly over the last few years, had a few injuries.

If you look at her 10k progression, it's been pretty linear (2015 <- 2006):
    31:55 31:26 31:35a 32:06 32:48 33:16 34:34 35:25 38:20 39:26

I wish my progress was quite as linear!

Thomas Barr is on the starters list for the 400m hurdles, don't know if it'll be a highlight but worth watching how he gets on.

Tonight BBC 1 9PM Nike Oregon Project called named ‘Catch me if you can’.

On BBC 1 at 9pm (GMT) there will be a programme aired named ‘Catch me if you can’. The focus of this programme will be doping in athletics and looks set to cause some serious problems for the famed Nike Oregon Project, and it’s head coach Salazar. Coach to double Olympic champion Mo Farah, Salazar comes under scrutiny more so for his work with Farah’s training partner, Galen Rupp. It will feature damning testimonials from Salazar’s former assistant coach, Steve Magness, as well as former group member Kara Goucher.

The documentary is a collaborative investigation between the BBC and Propublica.org (David Epstein) and some of the documentation involved is already available for public reading – on the BBC here, and Propublica here.
