Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hey all,

Head is a little fried here...

So I currently have a Campeg groupset, its a 9 speed derailer/shifters...But my crankset is Shimano...

So my question is...Will a shimano 9 speed chain work for this? Also it'll need to be a 9 speed shimano cassette too yes?

Sorry again, its been a while since I've bought bike stuff and my memory is fuzzy:(

Can't comment definitively on the chain, but the cassette will be governed by the hub on the rear wheel, as the spline pattern is different on Campag than it is for Shimano/SRAM. Would be potentially worth taking a look at the locking on your cassette at the moment to see if it gives any indication of what the existing one is. Having Campag derailleur and shifters would make me suspect you might actually need a Campag cassette though, as the spacing can differ, and a Shimano/SRAM cassette may not align correctly with the derailleur.

Any 9 speed chain should do. I use KMC as well as Campagnolo 9 speed chains.

You should run a campagnolo cassette with a campagnolo freehub, but chances are you have a campagnolo wheelset/freehub anyway so a Shimano/SRAM cassette isn't even a choice.

Well if you don't need to buy anything to try it out, then you should put it in the workstand and start tinkering.

You might need to adjust your indexing a little bit, and you'll most likely need to adjust the high and low limit stops on the rear derailleur. Maybe aim for 'perfect' shifting in the middle range of the cassette and 'acceptable' shifting in the higher and lower extremes. Floating upper jockey wheels can be fairly forgiving.
