Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Starter Guitar Kit (3/4) for child?

    Hi

My son has asked for an electric guitar from Santa and I've noticed some price reductions on sets at the mo.

Can anyone please recommend a good quality starter set with Amp? I was thinking of a plug based amp rather than battery amp as the battery would probably keep running out.

He is also fixated that the guitar MUST be red.

So if anyone can recommend a quality 3/4 red guitar set with electric amp, it would be much appreciated.

Also if there are any good music sites to buy this from that would also be much appreciated. I'm a music novice!

    Thanks,
    Pix

    What age is he?

Depending on his age, you may be better getting a full-sized guitar.

Personally I think he's too young, and probably too small for a 3/4 size guitar. It'd be huge on him. You could have a look for a 1/2 size or 1/4 size acoustic. I think that'd be more suitable.

Waltons (Georges St Dublin & Blanchardstown Center) have a range of cheaper small scale acoustics.

for a 5 year old there's no point in spending silly money.

any 3/4 size will do grand.

    Thanks for all the help!

My daughter has a kids acoustic guitar which they are always fighting over, he would prefer an electric guitar. I think if I have both types of guitar they will each come and go between trying to play them.

I think the rest of the house will all go through a phase of picking it up so just as long as it's of reasonable quality I'm fine with that :-)

I did notice that the mini branded guitars seem to be much cheaper in the states like :

But again I'm not sure if this is appropriate. Any other suggestions much appreciated and thanks again!

I've one of these on order (via their Kickstarter campaign) for myself. I'll let my 5 year-old use it too ;)
