Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Putting a shed under a 220kv power line

Does anyone know if it is permissable to place a steel shed under a 220kv power line?

Would I need to contact the ESB in order to clear it with them, I can't find any documentation in relation to what is / is not permissable under power lines.
I know there are specific rules as part of the planning permission detailing building distances from the lines but I am not sure if a shed would fall into the same category.

    Can anyone offer any advice?

You'd be a fool to gamble, even if there's no hint of doubt you should still ask the ESB.

If you are planning to build near overhead lines, you should contact ESB Networks so that the necessary safety precautions can be put in place to prevent injury. Some simple rules include:

Never undertake any construction activity within 10 metres of an overhead power line of 38KV or greater.

A metal shed would make a fine faraday cage :)
