Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The question as in the title. I'm interested in a place Ireland (preferably), UK or EU. The only place I found after an hour on google is http://www.linuxemporium.co.uk/
Ebay & amazon have mostly netbooks with linux, there are some full size laptops, but the range is very limited.

Any other places that I missed?

I think pcspecialist.co.uk allow you to build a laptop without Windows on. Not actually 100% sure they deliver to Ireland but I think they do.

Thanks! They are shipping to Ireland for 30 pounds.

I selected a laptop as the base (starting from 450 pounds) and after setting my config I got ....419 pounds. Strange, but a nice surprise :D

As a small disclaimer, I have no idea what their support, reliability or after sales is like. I've never bought from them, but have been humming and hawing over buying a new laptop recently and came across them.

    www.hardwareversand.de

Some of the very cheap 15" laptops say they come with no system installed , You'll be getting a german style keyboard though so beware!

Thanks for the link, but German keyboard is not an option for me.

    I'm looking for a €200 netbook with linux, with a 12" screen.

Thanks guys for the links above, www.pcspecialist.co.uk and http://www.linuxemporium.co.uk/, but neither of them have machines in that price range.

Does anyone know of anywhere else to check, please?

Has anyone tried ones of these? http://linuxpreloaded.com

It may be best to buy from within the EU to avoid costly duties.

edanto - check in argos. they have 11.6 inch laptop with windows for under 200. just ignore that it has windows supplied and install linux.

Does one have to be careful these days when buying a laptop that it doesn't have Secure Boot or other TPM DRM features to make sure Windows is the only OS it will load?

Any computer with a Windows 8 logo sticker has Secure Boot enabled.

But you can control secure boot in UEFI. You can disable secure boot entirely or add additional certificates. You should even be able to remove Microsoft’s certificate – remove Microsoft’s certificate, add your own, and your computer will only launch boot loaders that you’ve signed yourself.
