Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi
I was wondering what shops sell a good range of laptops because I am looking to try out a few rather than ordering online and not knowing what the keypad and trackpad is like.

I can really only think of PC World/Currys and Harvey Norman.

    Thanks

The only place in Ireland to get an anyway reasonable price on a laptop is Argos, and that's just because they don't understand how laptop specs work.

If you want good value used amazon or saveonlaptops

The only real place where you can try out a laptop is PCWorld.
You will not be able to test the laptop in Argos, or even open the box depending on who is dealing with you.

But you'll pay a 50% premium for the service. You could find a laptop online and then check out similar in PC world.

Yes I never mentioned purchase the laptop in PCWorld :P

Just try a few out in store and get a good look at them, then find the same laptop online, and buy it there for cheaper. Done. :pac:

Unfortunately there are no good shops with laptops at least in Dublin, however depends what you're looking for.
I'm looking for high spec computer for professional use and the only way is to order online and if you won' tbe satisfied then you can send it back within 10 days and get your money back.

By the way I wouldn't count on PCWorld or Argos. First place is extremely expensive while the other doesn't offer good customer service.

It's actually very poor. That processor despite being a quad core is a low end processor and is actually pretty crap. The graphics won't be up to much either. The laptop isn't actually poor value but it's not performance wise it is at the very low end of the spectrum for a new laptop.

Dont be led astray by them terms.

The 'Dedicated GPU' is worse than most integrated graphics out now, and comparable to the integrated graphics, Intel HD 3000, released in 2011.

The Quad Core you mention, is a very low performance CPU.
