    Yeah, good idea. :)

I'll copy a couple of posts I made in the other thread over here and deleted the duplicates:

Sunderland have a super run to start which goes on for months:

    Leicester (A), Norwich (H), Swansea (H), Villa (A), Spurs (H), Bournemouth (A), Manchester United (A), West Ham (H), WBA (A), Newcastle (H), Everton (A), Southampton (H), Palace (A), Stoke (H) - December is terrible however.

Pantilimon and a defender are tempting already. Hopefully we'll get Pantilimon at £4.5m.

    Also:

Norwich and Bournemouth, Bournemouth especially, appear to have kind starts. Definitely options for cheap punts/squad fillers and attack-minded players like Redmond (even though I'm not a fan at all personally) Kermogant and Ritchie may make canny 4th/5th midfielders presuming they come in at around £5m.

    Norwich - Palace (H), Sunderland (A), Stoke (H), Southampton (A), Bournemouth (H)

    Bournemouth - Villa (H), Liverpool (A), West Ham (A), Leicester (H), Norwich (A), Sunderland (H), Stoke (A), Watford (H)

I could see Bournemouth starting well and fading as the season goes on, typical to what Blackpool did with similar resources/expectations, so I'd be interested in going with a cheap option from them as mentioned above and jumping off before that happens.

Tripper has signed for Spurs according to Sean Dyche. £3.5m the rumored fee. Walker, Yedlin and Tripper there now to play RB with Dier also cover.

Walker must be going. Otherwise Trippier is no sort of value FPLwise.

The fa cup quarter finals clash with a full round of league fixtures this season. Last season was the first year they didn't. This means there will be more teams involved in dgws towards the end of the season.

Given Uniteds run in they have the potential for a very nice DGW.

Can't wait for the prices now!

Bradley Johnson scored 13 goals for Norwich last season. Although Howson got 9. Redmond's return was slack enough with 4 but he missed a number of games.

They're going to need a forward though unless Cameron Jerome has matured enough to make more of an impact this time around.

Since Alex Neil took over he's favoured Bassong and Martin at CB loaning our legend of the boards out to Fulham. Whittaker and Olsson as the FBs seemed nailed on and of course Ruddy in goal.

Pricing will be everything but I do think I might take advantage of Norwich and Bournemouth early on.

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,022 ✭✭✭✭Iused2likebusts

I'll look at a Bournemouth attacking option howe is a very attacking manager. I don't think I'll go near them defensively.

    Paired teams for home/away:

    Bournemouth - Watford
    Arsenal - Spurs
    Chelsea - West Ham
    Everton - Liverpool
    Leicester - Swansea
    United - City
    Norwich - Southampton
    Stoke - Palace
    WBA - Villa
    Sunderland - Newcastle

Bournemouth and Watford 4.0m defenders would be nice. Goalkeepers I'd have to see prices

With Bournemouth and Watford paired, I might consider a Ritchie/Deeney 3-4-3/3-5-2 rotation.

The season just gone Bournemouth were better away from home both in terms of goals scored as well as conceded

That is unlikely to continue in the Prem I imagine. They'll be travelling to much tougher places now, although it wouldn't inspire me to go with them for their home games.

Great to be back :). Arsenal, Chelsea, and Man City attackers look like a must to start the season

Sanchez, Hazard and Aguero are must haves IMO. Would also like to try and fit Costa in depending on price.

I think I'll be doing what Busts did last season. Cheap defenders and keepers and maximise attack at the start of the reason.

I reckon my two keepers will be the WBA pairing so hopefully they stay cheap.

Depends on how things go in the copa. If either are in the final we might see them miss a match or two. If they do go far then hopefully we will get something from a presser to let us know so we aren't going into gw1 guessing.

That will be my plan again. Wba double keepers wba nor lei Wat defenders and Pva. Then spend big on the attack.

Agree re: Hazard, Sanchez and Aguero but the Copa America really worries me. Both of the aforementioned will have been playing competitively non-stop for 2 full seasons now without a break and likely won't be finished up until late June/early July depending on how far both get.

My plan was the 2 West Brom goalkeepers also but Sunderland's start has thrown a spanner in the works now as Pantilimon looks a great shout. Probably going to be faced with the 2 Sunderland keepers and a West Brom defender or the 2 West Brom keepers and a Sunderland defender decision. That looks to be a dilemma for me and something I'll be looking into more over the next few weeks.

I'd planned to use two WBA keepers as well but they play City and Chelsea in their first three games. And if I'm going to WC after GW4 anyway, it would make sense to go with someone else.

Pulis has proved his defences will deliver against any opposition.

Josh King was signed from Blackburn on a free as his contract was up. He's a striker but my hope is that he'll be listed as a mid because he played right wing for Rovers sometimes because we have Rhodes/Gestede.

He's a speed merchant and scored a hat trick against Swansea in the cup. He could prosper in a good attacking team and should be cheap.

Leicester's squad a bit lighter after the sacking of 3 of their development players after a trip to Thailand. One of them being Pearsons son.

Henderson might interest me, depending on price. He got a very respectable total last time round, and should be on pens full time with Gerrard gone

I agree with you mostly but to be fair they went on a clean sheet bonanza mid-season that practically everyone, myself included, ignored. I still wouldn't trust them particularly.

Too early to write off anyone yet though.

No one knows. Normally the FPL home page gets a make over a little while before hand. You can sure when it is up and running there will be a post here within a couple of minutes! My guess is July 2nd at 11.36am. The start date has varied quite a bit but I guess some time around 4-6 weeks before the season starts.

    2014 was July 16th. 2013 was July 15th. 2012 was July 19th. 2011 was July 20th and 2010 was July 13th.

So based on that I'd expect it to open week commencing 13th of July.

Early start this season. So I'd edge my prediction more towards single figure July. July 9th it is.

This is extremely good from 'Portsmouth Bubblejet' on Fantasy Football Scout:

    http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/2015/06/18/the-numbers-game-201415-review-leicester/
Just like last year, I've designed a home/away FPL fixture rotation spreadsheet for each club for the new 2015-16 season. It doesn't take degree of difficulty for each match into account, and should therefore be used in combination with the FFS season ticker. The Dropbox link is below if you wish to download it.

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/uw0u12pfy53hqca/FPL%20Home%20Away%20Rotation%202015-16.xlsx?dl=0

Unlike many European leagues, where the fixtures are divided into 2 equal halves which are reversed after the winter break, the Premier League fixture compilers have stuck to their usual practice of splitting the calendar into a number of short rotational blocks.

During each block, the 20 clubs are split into two groups of ten teams – let’s call them Group A and Group B. For the duration of the fixture block, teams from Group A will always play against a team from Group B, but never against another team from Group A. When a new rotational block starts, the two groups are mixed up, so that each club gets the opportunity to play all 19 others home and away.

    In 2015-16, there are 10 fixture blocks of varying length. They take place in gameweeks 1-2, 3-6, 7-8, 9-13, 14-17, 18-25, 26-27, 28-32, 33-34 and 35-38.

It is therefore the lengthiest blocks (GW 18-25) that will allow us to set up some potentially fruitful team rotations.

The inclusion of rotation blocks of odd-numbered length (GW 9-13 & GW 28-32) means that some teams have a distinct imbalance in the number of home and away matches around this period. In other words:

    – Man City & Crystal Palace play 5 out of 7 matches at home between GW 8 & GW 14

    – Man United & Stoke play 5 out of 7 matches away between GW 8 & GW 14

    – Liverpool & West Ham play 5 out of 7 matches at home in gameweeks 27-33

    – Chelsea & Everton play 5 out of 7 matches away in gameweeks 27-33

Each club has one team with whom they always rotate. Some pairs are allocated due to close geographical proximity, which might cause policing problems, but others are allocated in order to avoid clashes in other tiers of the English football pyramid.

Here are the main home/away rotational patterns for each Premier League club.

    Arsenal
Perfect H/A rotation: Tottenham (38 games)
Good: Man City (34), Southampton (30), Liverpool (28)

I'm all for cheap but would like to have one Premium side (probably Chelsea) in there with the 5th def being a 4m who will rarely play. Will depend on what that 2m+ could do elsewhere.

    Ideally I'd be looking at

    WBA, WBA
WBA, Sunderland, Saints, Chelsea, 4m playing bench fodder.

Southampton defs will be far from cheap this year 5.5 I'd say. I'll be steering clear especially that they have Europa league aswell.

I'll be going with the west brom keepers aswell.

I'm undecided if I'll have Ivanovic in my gw1 team though. If Chelsea play like the did at the start of last season it would be a no brainer as he could easily repeat his goalscoring record.
If they play tight though he probably won't be worth the money. Hopefully the community shield gives us an idea of how they will play.

It's a cracking rotation but the only thing is, for the price that Southampton defenders are going to be, you can't really afford to have one tied up on your bench every 2nd week.

Ivanovic goes through a patch every season where he'll get a few goals/assists in 4 or 5 games. Two years ago I managed to get him in for it (was around end of January/February) but last season I missed it.

The key is getting him during that purple patch.

Re Norwich, I'll be keeping an eye on another former Blackburn stalwart, Martin Olsson. The only thing is Norwich were brutal for clean sheets two seasons ago in the PL and have largely the same defence.

I fancy some defenders from top 4 sides. Currently I'm thinking Bellerin & Smalling, both should come in around 5.5. After that cheap and cheerful, should be plenty of options to choose from, keeper strategy I'm not sure tho!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,710 ✭✭✭✭Paully D

Sunderland and Stoke rotate perfectly for 8 of the first 10 weeks.

I know Stoke aren't great in terms of fantasy football at the back, but a few of us had a bit of success with the Swansea/Stoke similar rotation at the beginning of last year (well, it was almost all Swansea, but the excellent rotation helped to make my decision to go for them :pac:) so hopefully this rotation might have a similar impact. It was a bit of a nightmare predicting who would start in the Stoke back 4 but should be easier this year.

The rotation gives the following fixtures for the first few weeks:

LIV/lei, NOR, SWA, WBA, TOT, LEI, BOUR, WHU, wba/swa, WATF/NEW

They start to clash a bit in terms of both having home/away games a lot more after that for a while, but if we can get a Stoke defender in for £4.5m that's a pretty tasty and cheap rotation to start off with while we see how things develop and would go along way to allowing a premium defender (i.e. Chelsea).

I'm almost convinced Pantilimon will be priced at £5m so with that in mind hopefully Foster will be £4.5m. That'd 1) make my choice between Sunderland and West Brom GK's much easier and 2) ensure that GK can be sorted out with £9m. If that happens, I'm looking at the following:

Foster/Myhill (or any £4m if Myhill is £4.5m)

    Chelsea/WBA/Sunderland/Stoke/Bournemouth or Norwich

My WBA/Sunderland/Stoke defenders will all be £4.5m or if not I'll look elsewhere. I know Bournemouth or Norwich aren't likely to keep clean sheets but as a 5th defender they look alright considering the fixtures. We'll hopefully sneak a £4m out of Bournemouth though which would swing it. So that's a GK and full defence for around £33m presumably.

Why do we think that all the West Brom defenders from last season won't be priced at 5m? Do they only take the full season stats etc into account.
Brunt will surely be classified as a defender now as well right?? He'll be value even at 5.5m

I think all the starters will be 5m, including Myhill unless Foster is less than a month from recovery. Brunt didn't play in defence the last month of the season though, Olsson came in to the back four.

Yeah can't see Foster being 4.5

I wonder will there be any 4m starters this year. Very very few last season at the start. Duff, Hutton and for a while Moore are all i can remember.
