Cool wil have a look tomorrow. Also going shopping for bridemade dress. My sister is getting married in dec and I'll be 32 weeks. Can only get one maternity bridesmaid dress. She doesn't like it so going again tomorrow. Have no idea what shape or size I'll be. Any idea about dress?

Well if your sister finds a dress that she like she could always ask if they do it in bigger sizes than they may have in stock, explain to them that you''ll be 32 weeks gone at that stage and just go back in and get fitted for it then. (that's assuming that it's a bridal shop you're going to today?
    Hi
She got a dress in coast in a big size she is happy. Have to wait til the week before to get it altered. Any other thing off the list.

Hi Goldlocks - thats great about the dress, at least that is something else done. I think a-line dresses are probably the best shape since it leaves room to expand. I got two dresses in Debenhams end of season sale rack too - great value when its really reduced like that. I find maternity clothes so expensive in proper maternity stores - slightly annoying when its only for so short a length of time!! I have been looking at ebay and online shopping to try to see any bargains. But other than that, I'm trying to hold out til I'm in the UK!!

Hi Everyone! Im due my 1st baby on the 6th of February hubby and I are so excited! How are ye all feeling? Any funny cravings? Mine are Ice-cream, Buns and Jam doughnuts nothing mad or hard to get so far

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,731 ✭✭✭bp

    Morning all,

well no cravings yet, but I can no longer close most of my trousers....just exploded out there last week, so no longer looking like I ate a lot of food! Getting to use my pant extenders for the first time...I hope to get a few more weeks out of them before giving up my regular clothes :-)

  • Registered Users Posts: 98 ✭✭Tilly Tally

Congrats sun moon stars! I'm apparently due Feb 1st so not too far ahead of you! I've no cravings at all, just general increase in appetite from the very beginning. I do find that I want more salty food though recently but I wouldn't use alot of salt in cooking so I'm guessing my body is just looking for salt. Maybe with all the extra water I'm drinking, its flushing the salt out?? Or I'm just fooling myself so I can eat bags of crisps without any guilt!!

Yeah I'm having serious trouser issues too in the past week. I have homemade extenders (lumps of elastic) which seem to be working well so far. I don't want to buy maternity stuff too early and grow out of it in a few weeks time.

  • Registered Users Posts: 22 sun_moon_stars

I was going mad for a robin hood ice pop the raspberry one but I'm over that one which is great cos you cant get them any more

That sounds about right with the salt you might be drinking too much water aswell if you hold back on some you might find a difference before I was pregnant I was in Weight Watchers and I was 3lbs off my target weight for my gold membership looks like I'll be starting that again when I'm recovered from the birth!

I've been having very vivid and sometimes scary dreams too that seem so real about the birth any one else like that? :o

  • Registered Users Posts: 98 ✭✭Tilly Tally

I think its a bit of a vicious circle with the water - I'm trying to drink more so to counteract the dehydration and swollen feet but then I could be flushing out salt...I suppose a bit of extra salt on my food won't kill me!!

Well done with WW before this. I'm sure when you've done it already, it will be good motivation to do it again afterwards.

No vivid dreams thank god - don't think I would fancy that at all. I've avoiding even thinking about that til I'm much further along!!

    Congrats sun moon stars.
Weirdest craving I've had so far was for ColCannon with SUGAR!!!!! eeeggghhh, I feeling sick now just thinking about it lol. Other than that no cravings as such I just want food when ever I see it, I've had to stop watching "hell's Kitchen" because want whatever food I see at this stage. I think it's just my body making up for nerly 3 months of not being able to eat much more than a couple of slices of dried toast a day.

So how is everyone feeling today then? I have my first qapp with my consultant tomorrow (2nd hosp app though), cue running around like a headless chicken, due to havn to drop kiddies to school first and then sit in traffic for an hour to get to the coombe :-( ah well, has to be done.

  • Registered Users Posts: 98 ✭✭Tilly Tally

Colcannon with sugar does sound a bit vile but obviously must have been nice at the time. I was so lucky that I never had any sickness so I've no food deprivation to make up for!

Best of luck with your appointment tomorrow. I have mine on Tuesday morning and am looking forward to having the scan done. I'm presuming baby will be buzzing around since s/he has been punching my bladder and moving around alot in the past week!

It was disgusting, but I couldn't stop eating it. Thankfully my stomach has returned to normal again, although i'm eating alot more spicy food than normal, which is saying something considering I live on spicy food anyway lol.

Appointment was grand today, aside from the 2 hour wait to see the midwife for blood pressure and urine check and then another hour wait to see the consultant. It was 2 o'clock before I was back at the check out desk and the consultant won't switch me to the mid-wife led clinic in Naas either due to previous complications ffs.

Ah well I got what I wanted out of it, They have finally given me a clear due date (21st of Feb, but they are still almost 100% certain of a January induction), they won't give me a c-section but i'm booked in for may to have my tubes tied, (woohoo, don't mean to sound ungrateful about being preggers but 9 kids is enough) only thing left now is to find out the sex of babs, I have my anomly scan 19th of October so hopefully we'll be able to see then :D

How's everyone else getting on? Any more news on scans etc?

Omg 9 kids! I'm in complete admiration, we can just come to you with all our questions! Are you in the coombe too?

  • Registered Users Posts: 22 sun_moon_stars

My dreams have been scary I've had 2 that really made me terrified! The first one was the docotor that does all those post mortems on tv was in the room when i went in for a scan and he did the scan when he scanned lower there were 6 octopuss there waiting to form he told me if my baby fell out that 1 of them would take over the growing and become my baby but there is a chance they could all hatch and I'd have 7 babies

The 2nd one I had to have a c section in a tiny dirty prefab because there was no space in the maternity for me I was nearly convinced I had the baby then cos it felt like i could feel drips going in my arm. I hope thats the end of them for the next few months!

Its mad the things that go through your head when your pregnant!

They aren't all mine Yellow Hen, some of them are just his lol not that that makes any difference. This for me is pregnancy no 7 but babs no 4. and final :D

Yup I'm in the coombe. They want me back up there monday morning for blood tests but they may bloody well wait till the following week. I've already got my dad booked pretty solid the coming week for other things so i'm not askin him to babysit again monday morning.

    How are you doing now?

You're not wrong there sun moon stars, but don't worry too much about the dreams, they can be quite vivid and scary, I've had some right freaky ones myself this time round but a nice cuppa and ten mins to wake up properly usually does the trick of putting them outta your mind. Oh and keep track of what you're eating before going to bed as well, i've noticed that certain foods tend to trigger them off more so than if I wasn't eating some things late at night.

  • Registered Users Posts: 22 sun_moon_stars

Thats true a cuppa tea can fix anything! I never thought about it being connected to food I could be eating I'll keep an eye on that thanks for the suggestion

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,731 ✭✭✭bp

Oh god you poor thing with those dreams....the worst I had was a man with no arm and dripping blood....compared to octopus that was nothing :-)

Saw the doctor during the week and got another scan (not as good as the one we paid for privately) but good to see it is growing along for itself!

Also went to the gym today for the first time in a while, trying to get some exercise in while I can before I get any bigger!!!! Also I dropped a dress size although bump is expanding outwards!

anyways, good week all in all!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,731 ✭✭✭bp

How is everyone this week? I am down with the flu, having been sent home from work - does anyone know if I could take any thing bar lots of Vitamin C?

So are we all expanding outwards nicely?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,143 ✭✭✭Thumby

Hey bp, i had it there myself a couple of weeks back. Only thing you can take is paracetamol. No lemsip :-( although i did make up a homemade one(ish). Boiling water a spoonful of honey and lemon squeezed into it. It did help. Hope you feel better soon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,731 ✭✭✭bp

    thanks :-)

that I will try! although two days in bed helped - the boss man sent me home so that was nice of him!

Hi ladies! Hope everyone is doing well? I too am having off dreams!! Last night my baby was born with a prawn for a head!

Other than that my only news is that I 100% felt the baby kicking 2 nights ago! Very exciting but haven't felt it since!

Time is flying. Nearly 20 weeks. Finally decided to bite the bullet and read about labour. Wish I didn't!!!

    Everyone else doing ok??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,138 ✭✭✭foxy06

Just got the go ahead from a consultant to have a home birth. I'm a very happy lady today. Hope you are all doing well xx

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,143 ✭✭✭Thumby

Aww delighted for ye expecting and foxy.
@expecting don't be worrying about the birth stories. If we let our own or others not so great experiences get to us we'd scare ourselves ****less lol.
Hell my first to were terrible but here i am on num 4. Granted this one wasn't planned but still lol.
@bp how ya feeling now any better?

    Hi all,

I hope everyone is keeping well and the dreams aren't too freaky....I have been ok on that front so far touch wood!

I am starting the auld yoga next week so hopefully that will make the process easier!! I am defo showing how, nice bump on my....it is almost past the boobs, which is saying something as I have gone from a C to a DD and they are threatening to go up another cup size!!! Sure what can you do!

    So any news with anyone?

  • Registered Users Posts: 178 ✭✭househunter

Just adding myself to this thread :D
Was 20 weeks on Saturday. All going well for me so far touch wood. Scan this Friday.
Been having lots of weird dreams although not as many lately as I was having a few weeks ago. Started pregnancy yoga too and its so relaxing. Been doing an ordinary pilates class but its really nice doing a class with other pregnant ladies :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 98 ✭✭Tilly Tally

    Congratulations househunter!

I'm half dreading all these dreams that you are all talking about. Luckily so far I've had nothing like that. I was having difficulty sleeping up til last week - was getting a lot of rib pain and just generally uncomfortable. But that seems to have settled now and I'm making it as far as 6am or later without clock watching! Or it could be that I've now experiencing severe tiredness and I'm just sleeping through the pain.

I was told last week by my boss (who hadn't seen me in about a week) that I'm now "massive"!! Very encouraging! But I suppose I should be looking quite pregnant at 23 weeks! Bump passed out my expanding boobs a few weeks ago. And strange question but how do people put on socks and tights up to 9 months??!! I was like a contortionist this morning and exhausted after the struggle. Not sure how I'll manage that for the next 3 or 4 months.

    welcome along househunter!

Oh the joys of trying to get socks on - that one is puzzling me too!

Glad to hear everyone is happy and growing steadily!

  • Registered Users Posts: 178 ✭✭househunter

Yeah, putting on shoes and socks is starting to get more awkward alright, haha. I feel like an auld one at times.
Anyone else not felt their baby move yet? I'm starting to get worried about feeling nothing, although I know I shouldn't and that everyone if different. That doesn't stop me!

My friend hadn't felt anything at 20 weeks so she mentioned it her 20 week scan, she was told that on your first it is usually around 22 weeks. She was 22 weeks on Saturday and has felt the baby move once so far so hopefully she will feel more soon.

If you are worried you should get it checked out.

  • Registered Users Posts: 178 ✭✭househunter

I have my big scan on Friday so I will mention it then, thanks :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 98 ✭✭Tilly Tally

I hadn't really felt movement up to 18 weeks but then I started recognising small wiggly movements (bit like ripples or worms more than bubbles or butterflies!!) as movement. Once I realised what it was, I couldn't stop feeling it. Now at over 23 weeks, I'm getting kicked all around the place all day long - my bladder is obviously a good punching bag!! I do find that there is way more movement just after eating or when I lie down at night.

I have started feeling hic-ups which are kinda weird...below the belly button!

But movement is different for everyone - and also what I think may be movement is actually gas! :-)

Good luck with the scan - just had mine the other day and it was great, very exciting to see the heart chambers etc

    Enjoy x

  • Registered Users Posts: 178 ✭✭househunter

Thanks BP. Really looking forward to the scan but scared at the same time. Hopefully I'll be reassured on Friday :)

Oh the ladies in the jan thread have a list of who's due when and where, was wonderin if ye'd be interested in doing the same? If so pm me the details and sure i'll stick it up. Happy friday everyone :-)

  • Registered Users Posts: 98 ✭✭Tilly Tally

Hi Thumby, Best of luck with the hospital appointment today - hope you are able to find out! I actually saw that list on the January thread and was going to suggest it myself. Its a great way to keep track of dates and the big countdown. I'll send you on my details this morning!

Jaysus expecting ya never know we could be sharing a room if i don't go early. Lol
So how's everyone doing today then?

Went great thanks Thumby! Such a relief to know everything looks ok :)
Keeping the sex a surprise. Sonographer was a bit odd. Told her I hadn't felt anything yet and she said sure its moving loads. She was under pressure as they were a person down. We were afraid to ask any questions! She never mentioned the fact that I have an anterior placenta which I just noticed on the report afterwards - that might explain why I haven't felt any movement! Didn't care though as all looks normal, yay!

Hi girls, glad to hear you are all getting on good.

My friend had her 20 week scan a few weeks ago, was great seeing how much baby has grown. She decided not to find out what she is having as it is her first and wants it to be a surprise.

It's mad to think she is 23 +2 already! The last few weeks have flown. She is due 9th Feb in Holles St so we might see BP in there!!

We have alot of stuff in and are going to try and get more over the next fews weeks to avoid the mad crowds at xmas!!

Hi guys, have not dropped by since page one. My beautiful fiancé and I had our 21 week scan yesterday and it was the first time seeing the baby, what an amazing experience. The most important part was that the baby was growing fine and is well and healthy thank god and also we found out It is a little girl we are having god we are both over the moon. Have a lovely picture of the baby either sucking its thumb or sucking/biting her finger unreal it is. My fiancé has had bad morning sickness and terrible back pain for most so far. Nothing a good massage cant help. She is an inspiration to me and I will forever remember what she has done for our new family. Hope everyone else is doing ok and getting through the scans and all the comes with pregnancy.

That's all for now, take care now

    Magicface.

I will be looking out for you Kitten_K :-)

I am glad everyones scan went well, out 20 week scan was actually slightly less clear because of how baby was sitting, but is waving! the legs were over the head so harder to see, but still all was fine so happy out!

Congrats on having a daughter, you must be chuffed! you can get lovely pregnancy massages, but try go to the ones without the hole in the table (my friends mam did a course in this and recommends the ones were they lie you on your side with pillows!)

anyway my friend who was trying for longer than us just announced her pregnancy so chuffed for them :-)

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,143 ✭✭✭Thumby

    Hey everyone.
Bp i'll add ya to the list when i get home, it's a massive pain doing it on the phone.
    Congrats magicface.
Delighted everyone is doing great. Have my big scan tomorrow thankfully as i had a bleed sunday night and have been told i have a low lying placenta but they couldn't tell how serious or if it's covering the cervix on the emergency room ultrasound as its just one of the small portable ones.
Anyhow hope ye all have a great day.

  • Registered Users Posts: 98 ✭✭Tilly Tally

Hope everything goes well for you with the scan tomorrow Thumby. You must have gotten an awful fright on Sunday when that happened.

I feel so lucky that I've had nothing happen or no bad symptoms outside of the normal aches and pains - fingers crossed nothing changes now!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,143 ✭✭✭Thumby

    Thanks tillytally.
Believe it or not this is the easiest pregnancy i've had. I didn't even realise i was bleeding. It happened while i was sleeping, woke up monday morning and found the blood in my pj's. It had stopped by that stage thankfully.
Oh my next app is the 9th of nov they brought it forward for some reason. Well depending how tomorrow goes anyway i could be in sooner again if the placenta is too low. Ah well what will be will be. Babs is a lively little thing and doing great so i'm trying not to worry too much.
