Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Would anybody have any recommendations for a good Sat-nav that would not be too expensive?

It kinda depends on what you want from it so the more specific you can be the better (Where will you use it? Do you need voice? Price?)
I use a free gps app in my phone and think it's really good.

Depending on what car you drive , if it has a double din slot Id reccomend a kenwood navigation head unit, garmin built in and its an excellent head unit

NavFree for the iPhone is perfect. You can pick up an old 3GS for about €100 and pop in a pre-paid SIM for the small bit of data you need to search for an address (NavFree's maps are on the phone so you only need data to search. It uses Google Maps to get an address so its very accurate) Its by far and away the best solution in my eyes. I've used it extensively in Ireland and the US.

If you're looking for standalone units and in my view they're still better than a phone based software solution, the two big brands as someone has already said are Garmin and Tom Tom.
I've tried both and especially for Ireland, the Garmin is far superior. A few of their models have lifetime maps, so you can update the unit to the most current map whenever you like. I'd be going for one of those units.
You can get a nice mount from brodit and have a very nice setup in your car.

+1 for NavFree, there's an Android version too.

I have maps on my phone, but still use the Garmin. Even with a decent mount, the screen is too small on the phone, and you run the risk of it getting interupted by calls / texts etc.

I'd go with a Garmin. Cheapest models cover UK & Ireland and are under €100 at this stage.

Thanks everyone. I have an iPhone so I think I will download one of the apps.
