This forum was set up help people learn how to trace their ancestry and to discuss the practice of genealogy. It was not designed to have people sign up new accounts and post threads on the off chance someone related to them is also on boards. If you want to find your family like that get a phone book and start calling people with the same surname, it makes as much sense. I'm going to leave all threads as they are for the minute while the new forum settles in and finds its own pace, but I'll be watching the forum to see how many of those sort of threads are formed and if necessary things will be reviewed in the near future.

They've just added extra digitized data including religion, literacy, number of children etc. All searchable too.

just to clarify the dates covered for Civil records and the familysearch Index .. full registration started in 1864 - so you can search for births, marriages and deaths from that date. Non-catholic marriages (i.e. those that did not take place in an RC church) were registered from 1845 to 1863.

If you find a possible match on the index you can order research certs costing €4 (a photocopy of the original register) from the GRO (http://www.groireland.ie/apply_for_a_cert.htm) using the following index details - name, record type (e.g. birth), year/quarter, registration district, volume & page number. The other details on the familysearch index are LDS internal references and are not required by the GRO.

Records are included on the famlysearch Index up to 1958 for the 26 counties and up to 1922 for Northern Ireland.

Were would you be able to search or get the poll tax returns for county derry/londonderry in 1669???? As this would tell me great info. thanks.

Check this out, go on to the Kerry County Council website and down on the bottom right side of the screen you will see KLA - graveyard records. If you go onto this site you will find alot of information for the Kerry local authority cemetries. Gives names, dates and addresses of people buried.

Also if you are looking at land records the following The National Archives of Ireland website now includes:

Tithe Applotment books for records dating from 1823-1837

and Griffith Valuations was published between 1847 and 1864
