Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Who are your heroes in film and why

Who are the protagonists (or antagonists) in your favourite films that you really admire (or maybe have influenced your life somehow).
    And why?

Off the top of my head I would say:
Jason Bourne: The ultimate tortured badass. A sensitive and decent soul who just wants to do the right thing without the government/the man/ CIA always annoying him (familiar trope in fairness) but also on a journey of self-discovery (a pretty cool one where he just happens to be an insanely resourceful, multilingual expert in everything and master of situational awareness ... with bad headaches).

Sydney Fyfe (I love you man):
Completely OK with every aspect of his masculinity. Deals only with reality.

Peter Gibbons (Office Space): Quits his job and toxic girlfriend and asks Jennifer Aniston's waitress out all on the same day after epiphany in psychologist's office. Reveals ridiculousness of corporate culture in meantime.

Robert Duvall's detective Prendergast in Falling Down:
Quiet, unassuming (and unfairly treated) but all he cares about is doing his job properly. Explains reality to d-fens.

Edit: Jodie Foster's Clarice Starling for the same reason.
