Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Flying steel hit by slasher kills woman walking to work

    March 03, 2010 12:21pm

A WOMAN has been killed while walking to work after she was struck in the head by a piece of steel sent flying by a grass slasher.
The woman, 42, was walking along the footpath on Eyre St, North Ward, in Townsville, just after 8am when she was hit by a projectile.
It is understood a blade from a slasher being towed by a small tractor on a vacant block of land hit the piece of steel, sending it flying.
Police also are investigating whether it was a flying blade that killed the woman.
An ambulance was called at 8.12am but the woman died instantly.

A distraught witness described the tragic event as a ‘freak accident’.
