strange shadows in blender

hi all, i am working on a project that is due friday evening, i have created two walking models and one building. i have several lights added to the scene but when i render this happens. can anyone advise me on how to fix this. thanks ;)

I get that effect sometimes when i have double vertice in one spot.
If you havent already you could try the remove doubles option.

Im a blender newb, so thats all i got.
