Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

If you have access to the .htaccess file you can do this (assuming you are using PHP and Apache)
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteRule .* offline.html

.* means any character any number of times. So whatever URL is entered in by the user they will be "redirected" to offline.html in which you can have a message saying the site is offline.

What about redirect with 307 (Temporary Redirect) code. That should maintain Google rank.
