Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    My wife and I are thinking of moving to Rush and I would be commuting to the city centre by train. There are lots of posts on here complaining about parking at Rush & Lusk station but they all seem to date from before the car park expansion. I'm hoping some of you may be able to offer a more up-to-date picture of how full the car park gets and when it fills up.

    On a related note, which trains are busy and how busy are they?

    Unless you are travelling outside peak times, get the 33X

    It actually serves Rush
    It's cheaper, faster than the train and you will get a seat

    I used to get the train until the malahide viaduct fell into the sea

    I regularily saw the train arrive leave rush&Lusk station and only cross the Liffey as the bus passed under the bridge at Tara st, but many times the bus passed before the train time.

    The bus serves grafton st and Kildare st too
    I haven't taken the bus since the 3rd lane opened on the m1, but this would have taken 5-10 mins off the outbound bus trip


    There's loads of space at the station to park nowadays but you'll have to pay to park there

    You sure you were looking at the same train? According to DB the 33x takes upwards of an hour

    All of those estimated times on Dublin Bus timetables need a complete review - in many cases they are wildly inaccurate. They pre-date the schedules that are on the NTA journey planner and are frankly useless.

    Victor's timetable is far closer to the mark - this is the control system's schedule.

    Thanks guys, will definitely bear the bus in mind. Honestly hadn't given it a second thought because of all the horror stories I'd heard about Dublin traffic (only moved over a couple of weeks ago, currently living in Dun Laoghaire and getting the DART to work).

    In that case yeah could well have been the train and buses matching each other, each would have it's pros and cons so probably best to try them both out on a week about basis and see which suits you better

    I think the train is a good option (but seats may be at a premium at rush hour) - I think the bus is hit and miss and the express one is best otherwise your picking up after john, niamh and seamus on the way into town
    Ideally they will soon extend the DART to Balbriggan and it will be faster, more regular etc.

    I used to get a train that too 28 mins non-stop from Donabate to Connolly
    I can't see how trains that stops at every station could improve times.

    The 33x also serves Rush, it's a long walk/drive to the station from Rush and you have to pay for it.

    The 33 after 7 pm gets out fairly quickly, probably 40 mins from Abbey st to Lusk
