    National Summary Report

Frequent and heavy snow showers blanketing roads in Leinster and the Sth East. There is a severe impact on visibility and driving conditions. Stick to the National Primary routes where at all possible but be aware that the conditions are changing constantly. * Black ice is a problem in Munster and Connaught and drivers are urged not to be complacent in these areas. * Clear the snow from the roof of your vehicle as well as the windscreen or it will fall forward obstructing your visibility while you are driving. Also clear your lights and use your dipped headlights at all times. Take extra time to get to your destination slowly & safely. Double your braking distance.

*LEINSTER* *KILDARE* Icy conditions remain on M7 between J13 Monasterevin & J12 Kildare and on M4 around J5 Leixlip. In Leixlip, Main St & Captains Hill are treacherous. Treacherous conditions reported around Maynooth and Kilcock. *CARLOW* Boggan Hill in Carlow town is impassable and all roads in town are hazardous. Ice conditions in Tullow; in particular on the Tullow/Castledermot Rd (R418). *WEXFORD* The Riverchapel/Courtown Rd is impassable. Very poor on Gorey/Ballycanew Rd (R741), Gorey/Carnew Rd (R725) and around Bunclody. * Avoid Enniscorthy town centre and stick to the main roads. *MEATH/LOUTH* Avoid the N2 Dublin/Monaghan Rd at Ashbourne, Slane and Collon and all hills. Care is still advised on the old N1 Julianstown/ Drogheda Rd. * Conditions are still poor the old N3 (R147) between Kells, Navan, Dunshaughlin and Dublin. * The Nine Mile Stone Rd through Ratoath to Dunshaughlin is barely passable.

*WICKLOW* Sally Gap and Wicklow Gap are closed. Take care throughout Rathdrum and Glendalough. * Farrankelly/Charlesland Rd and Windgates Rd (R761) are passable with care. * The Council has advised that conditions have deteriorated on the N81 following recent heavy snowfall. Care is still advised on the N11 and most regional roads are passable with care. *OFFALY* Icy conditions around Tullamore and Birr. The Kinnitty to Mountrath Rd remains closed. *WESTMEATH* Treacherous on all routes in Mullingar and Athlone. Also on the M4 and M6. *LAOIS* Extra care on the M8 Dublin/Cork Rd through the county and into Tipperary due to icy conditions. Keep in mind that Gardai tells us the Cullahill/Johnstown Rd will not be treated.

*MUNSTER* *TIPPERARY* Conditions are treacherous on the M8 Dublin/Cork Rd between J6 Thurles and J10 Cashel. There have been a number of crashes already. *CORK* Black ice reported on the Skibbereen to Clonakilty Rd. Reports of bad ice on the Timoleague to Bandon (R602) especially at Kilshinahan. Very icy around Kinsale, Belgooley, Riverstick, Bandon and Oysterhaven. *WATERFORD* Icy conditions remain in parts in Waterford City; particular care needed Meeting House Lane and Thomas St. Also icy on the Ferrybank DCW and approaching the city on the Cork Rd and N24 from Mooncoin. Dangerous around Knocknore and Tallow and from Tallow to Midleton. *CONNAUGHT* *SLIGO* Conditions are improving on the N16/Sligo/Manorhamilton Rd at Glencar. *ULSTER* *MONAGHAN* Icy on secondary roads around Monaghan Town and Carrickmacross. Severe ice reported around Killany.
