Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

To taje this up from the previous thread here's the relevant news story from one of the local newspapers.

Special needs family say ‘no’ to €300,000 house
A Traveller family with a special needs child no longer wish to be housed in an estate on the Barna Road, but it is understood that Galway City Council may still go ahead and purchase the property.

The house in Gleann na Coille was being bought for a sum believed to be €300,000, with an additional €50,000 being paid to the owner for modification works which would make it wheelchair friendly.

Residents strongly objected to plans to house the family there and hired the services of a solicitor to represent them at meetings with City Council executives.

The residents, through their solicitor, had at all times stressed that their objections were not against Travellers but were based on serious concerns about anti-social behaviour.

The details are not mentioned in that article, however a couple of week earlier it was stated that there have been several anti-social behaviour issues with the family in the past
The register for Anti-Social Behaviour shows nine entries involving the family – eight related to a dispute with a neighbour which was settled through mediation and the ninth related to the keeping of a dog which was subsequently removed.

While we can pick several issues with this, I think it's a good thing that the city council are buying this house, if only to ensure that it is available for future use/services.
