I see a new breakaway faction has formed in Limerick from the main FF party called "Independent Fianna Fail"

    Members include
    Joe "Crispy Duck " Crowley
    Kevin "Irish First" Sheehan
    Eddie Ryan
    Kieran O Hanlon

Is this a new national movement against the terribly weak Cork centric leadership of Michael Martin or just a localised troupe of disaffected councillors ?

Whatever it is you can bet that the electorate who just voted for them were the last thing on their minds...you couldn't make it up.

This is what happens when 2 FF franchises clash...

Seamus Walsh a Connemara councillor had that slogan on his posters years ago.

Bit of a stunt when you think about it, who are they most naturally going to align with when it comes down to it.......

it sounds like more like an anti collins faction than anything else

Yes - you could be right - it could be a Collins vs ODea faction fight

I hear there are now 5 rebels

Answer. FF of course. Just a stunt to get votes, dupe the public into thinking they are different......hint get rid of the FF label, that might help with the ruse.

Rebel FF councillors return to flock after post-election breakaway

Seems to have been resolved already. These things can happen when you are the largest party in the country.
FOUR FIANNA FÁIL councillors in Limerick who broke away from the main party after the local election results last week have decided they will, in fact, take their places on the party benches at the first council meeting this Friday.

Hi Sierra I am quite glad that at least two of them are back in your party
One of them accused the chinese community of stealing the ducks from the wetlands and another wanted real Irish to get first preference over foreign nationals. I definitely wouldnt like those names showing up on my desk if I was you.

Regarding the largest party thing - you failed miserably in the Euros. The dishonest water charge and property charge campaign didnt work out for you. The public knew that you were trying to hoodwink them . In the end you didnt really get any "real" Fianna Failer elected there did you ? Or do you consider Crowley a true Fianna Fail man ? How much did head office spend in Dublin on Mary Fitzpatrick's posters? There was one on nearly every lamp post - seriously what a waste of money.

You also failed in both by elections.

In the locals you got the same 25% result as you did in the locals in 2009 so I wouldnt be hailing this as a recovery of any sort.

ya.... on the largest party thing

FG would have 324 elected reps currently (301 FF).

No surprises in the return of the FF "rebels", it's easy to take the moral high ground when all those around you have none.

Looks like a local flash in the pan - just two councillors not happy that they were not elected as head of the council.

    It has been resolved now

Kevin "Irish First" Sheehan and Joe "Crispy Duck " Crowley and got
elected as head and vice chairman of the council .

They are now back in the main FF party.
