    hi,

I got a kurt kinetic trainer back at Christmas. Its great, I use it every day. The only thing I don't like about it that the back wheel often slips when cycling (and my Garmin 810 loosing my spins )

I have tried tightening and loosening the metal drum at the back but I still get slippage. It says on the manual not to tighten it too much because it will only wear the parts down.

Does anyone know if the training wheels are a solution ? I would enjoy the indoor session a lot more if my back wheel didn't spin as much.

I bought one of these, less than half the price of the one you linked to. I did have to tighten in the roller position to stop it slipping but it seems good now, have used it for 4 or 5 sessions, my regular tyre had started to wear and leave rubber on the turbo-roller.

I didn't see that one before, thanks ! my back tyre can nearly go around 1/4 of a turn before it grips, i hate it. I think I will get a trainer tyre.

Interesting, on my trainer (an Elite Volare), the roller is elastogel and my bike tyre didn't slip on it (at least not much) but it was starting to wear fairly quick.

When I got the turbo tyre that was slipping much more (like you said, about 1.4 turn, especially in a big gear). However I then adjusted the roller to make it tighter to the wheel (as with the turbo tyre I wasn't worried about excess rubber wear) and now I see pretty much no slippage.

The Kurk Kenetic is meant to be a great trainer - something that is meant to last you a lifetime. I was reading the manual and it said don't tighten the drum too much because it will cause wear and probably shorten the machines life. I don't care about the tyre, I have old ones that I might as well use up but any slippage makes you have to concentrate more.

I just hope that if I get a turbo tyre like the one you got it will stop the slippage or it will always feel like a granny machine. Here's hoping.

i was going to get a kendo but it seems like they are like murder to put on.

That link you posted is out of stock for 700 X 23c and not back till mid march. no mention about grip though, i thought it would be a big talking point.
