Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hey guys, looking at Social Sway for a wedding in 2016. Their YouTube video looks good but would love to hear from people who seen them live? Organising it from Oz so can't go check them out for myself!

    Any comments appreciated.

    Thanks
    W

Went to see them last month and was turned off them straight away, played alot of music along the lines of ABBA, cliff Richard, 60s johnny cash, stuff guests of an older age would enjoy but not my cup of tea!!

Not heard either but sounds like you might like Soul Purpose and the Goods too. Both female fronted with lots of motown/soul in their repertoires.

Hi! I play in Rubix, we are a 4 piece outfit who specialise in weddings. We're based in the North-East but travel around the country, and have many years experience in the wedding entertainment industry. For us, if your guests are not up dancing with smiles on their faces, we are not succeeding at our job. Thankfully though, a packed dance floor is a common sight from the stage for us.

We play a range of hits from the modern to the classics, taking in Pop/Country/Rock/Dance/Disco/Waltz, starting off with your own selected 'First Dance', all played fully live with precision and passion. Our two men at the front are very good with crowd interaction, and each wedding we play opens up another 3-5 bookings for us such is the reaction from the guests. Also, we are the same 4 members all of the time. The band you book is the band you get.

But that is all talk, hopefully I can back it up with our promo video...

If our band is of interest to you for your big day, feel free to contact us by PM here on Boards, or via the email address or phone number below. Our price may vary depending on a few different factors (distance, start time, set duration etc.) but as a 4 piece outfit, even at our top price, we are very reasonably priced.

We look forward to hearing from you and working with you to make sure that the live music is 100% on point for your most specialist of occasions.

    Thank you for your attention.

    Hi Folks,

Looking for recommendations for amazing wedding bands in the Mayo (or will travel to Mayo) area.

It's for June 16 - have looked at a few so far but nothing has grabbed my attention. It would be great to have a good mix (more upbeat classics and modern hits - less Come on Eileen/I'm in the mood for dancing).

I know the older guests will have to be catered for but there must be a band that has a good balance out there.

Any suggestions at all are welcome,

    thanks very much :-)

Interested in getting a mixed but female fronted group for my wedding next year. Saw a particular Dublin band a year or so ago in the Stillorgan Orchard, a blonde girl leading with a dark haired girl and two guys backing her up, they were brilliant and lively and had the pub hopping on the night!

Anyone got any idea of who the above might be or know of a similar sort of band? Any feedback much appreciated, thanks!

Ask the hotel for their list, theyed know who's local who might do it for that. I think youd have to set some expectations that youre looking at a 2-3 piece, ask that band then will they DJ afterwards.

if you cant find a band you like at that budget strongly suggest you hire a great DJ which will come in much less than a grand, recommend a guy called "Mr DJ" down there, he's top notch. have a google for him.

all pro wedding bands have a DJ they work with so dont limit yourself by that.

If youve just started looking, can you post your date and county (no need to to post hotel) and available bands will pm you to help narrow the search.

Look for online feedback, get a quote that suits your budget from 3-4 bands, check their setlists on their websites, (theyll be mostly the same but you might see something you like) most bands will have some feedback over time on the big wedding sites, save a couple of weekends so you can go and view your narrowed list.

If you're still not sure, come back here.

We were married 18 months ago and used a band called The Great Escape. Can't remember how much they were but it was less than 2k for band and dj. Couldn't recommend them highly enough, dance floor was full all night and they are great craic. They have studio days where you can go see them and have them play songs that you are thinking of having. Check them out you won't be disappointed

    Hi,

Getting married St Patrick's day 2016 in Cavan and on a tight budget, but I know the band is essential for the night, I'm looking for band that plays everything and a bit of trad cause of the day that's in it. Not a full trad session, a little sprinkle of it. Budget wise, we'd kinda need the band and dj covered for the guts of 1800. Any suggestions or recommendations? Will I be able to find a decent band for this price?

    Hi All

Getting married in 3 months and have booked Xtra Mile Wedding Band. Just wondering if anyone has ever had them? I've just gone onto their website and noticed its suspended and I'm getting a little worried.
I can't seen anything of them performing lately in 2015 on their Facebook page or YouTube.

Anyone that has heard or seen them and could give feedback would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

Bands are notoriously bad at updating facebook and websites. Someone may just have forgot to pay the bill for the .ie website, that happens a lot no matter what the website. Ring them and see what the story is. They're around a good while so doubt they just dropped off.

Any decent band worth their salt will update social media all the time. It's a major selling tool!

If they 'forget' will they forget your event?

Anyone have any recommendations for a small band who can still produce a good sound? we have a TINY function room booked and will defo have a DJ but wouldn't mind a couple hours of a small band who can squeeze in a tight space. Trying to avoid the sound of the 'guitar duo singing rebel songs in Temple Bar tourist traps' type arrangement tho… Not sure if it's possible

If you get a good professional DJ that can read the crowd and entertain, it would be better than having any form of a band there.

Hi all, we had an awesome band called The Goodfellas, at our wedding 2 years ago. Have just received an email from them saying ye hey have now changed their name to 'The Favours'. I've €100 voucher they've sent me to give to someone who books them for their wedding. So if anyone ends up booking them, PM and I'll forward you on the voucher. I'm probably biased but I have to say they were class! :)

2 bands operating under the 'goodfellas' name. 1 from the north and 1 south. Always thought it was a good name. Disappointed Mick and co would change their name.
