Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

JSA means test

I was just wondering if everyone gets means tested for a JSA claim. I went into the SW office in Cork around 4 weeks ago and I had most of the correct documentation with me and I filled out the UP1 form. The lady at the counter said payments should take 3-4 weeks ( I am sensing now this could have been a massive fib :p). I asked her would I need to back in again at any stage and she said no.
A buddy of mine went in last week and got an appointment with an inspector for this week. I'm just curious as to why I wouldn't have gotten an appointment. I didn't provide any bank statements or even a proof of address as she didn't ask for them.
I hope I'm not being fobbed off :(

Trot on down to your CWO, and they can give you cash each week while it's being processed or you'll get a massive backdating months down the line (as it is often a teeth-pullingly slow process in almost all instances, though I've never been on it myself)

Means testing is meant to be mandatory and they make appointments to call out to your house, but I've never actually known a case where this happened. Sorry I can't be of more help, but good luck =)

Ya, I think it may be time to head to the CWO. I don't know if I will get a straight answer about my application at the SW office. It would just be nice to know what's going on even if they told me it was going to take months!!

The CWO saved my life :p No questions asked (well hardly any) and she is giving my €188 a week until the social welfare sorts out my claim.
