Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Importing a single case of beer (20 bottles)

    Hi there,

I'm interested in importing a case of beer, 20 bottles. It's not much but I just want to make sure that I'm not going to have any problems.

I'll be using a transport company to bring the case to me - every individual bottle will be wrapped in bubble wrap and all of them will be in a regular bottle case.

Is there anything I should be aware of in terms of tax/vat/difficulty crossing the border etc.?

You can being in 110 litres of beer for personal use- now, since I so kindly answered your question, I don't suppose you'd send one of those bubble wrapped bottles my way?:P

Hah, I would if the courier companies wouldn't be so strict about it. Every single one of them refused to bring it over, as they do not transport smokes/alcohol for some weird reason....

Does anyone know a courier that would bring it over for me?

    Land of awesome beer, Poland.

I'm having a hard time finding any sahti type of beer around here, so I decided to get one I like. Whole case of it :)

Just thinking, Poland is EU so, in theory, you can bring back as much as you like.

Maybe hopping on a Ryanair flight would be an option? Might be cheaper than a courier as well. :D

Sorry, can't help other than that.

Yeah EU, didn't think there'd be any problems. The couriers said that they don't deal with alcohol/cigarettes but didn't say why. Bummer.

Ryanair might be an option, although I'd probably have to triple bubble wrap the bottles haha.

If you're buying online and the company has a vat registered nominee in Ireland, you are entitled to have alcohol shipped here:

An independent courier might be a problem. You could always ask www.drinkstore.ie if they will import it for you, save you the hassle and it might even end up slightly cheaper.
