The OMG, or Object Management Group is an international non profit software consortium that sets standards in the area of distributed object computing. The OMG manages an open, vendor-neutral process which proposes technologies and invites proposals and invites feedback from any member company before coming to consensus on a final specification, which becomes an adopted standard. Some of the standards the OMG has developed include CORBA, UML and IIOP.

The OMG publishes Whitepapers on various aspects of these technologies and also maintains resource pages for UML, CORBA, XML and CWM. The OMG also publish quarterly publications which discuss current developments and technologies within the organisation.

LATE 1980’s – GOD DOING A NEW THING

Lord of Life remained quite “stable” throughout the 1970’s and 1980’s. By the end of the 80’s, however, it was clear God was wanting to do a “new thing” with this congregation. Membership, worship attendance and financial support were all taking a new trajectory upward. Creative worship coupled with dynamic kids’ ministry and youth ministry were attracting ever-increasing numbers of “unchurched” or “church-inexperienced”. In early 1990 the congregation acknowledged the fact they were out of space with no possibility for expansion. Miraculously, God surprised everyone by graciously providing the present site where Lord of Life is now located. On January 27, 1991, the congregation voted unanimously to re-locate. Construction began in October of 1991, and the first services in the new facility were held on June 14, 1992.
