    You hold it against the target symbol on the upper reader on the righthand side.

    It's a smartcard.

    The display will show you how many days you have left on the card.

    If you want to check the ticket at any stage without using a day, just get on a bus and ask the driver to check what's left on it by putting it on his machine.
