One way street problem

    There's a one way street outside my building and despite signs indicating that it is so, cars come up the wrong way on a regular basis because those signs are not very prominent. It's a crash waiting to happen imo. Should the city council be alerted to this? Or is this just an inevitable problem with 1 ways?

    It happens, its sometimes understandable, but its not acceptable.

    Have a word with the council and insist on larger signs (a) no entry at the junction (b) no left/right turn in advance (c) solid + broken white line across the threshold.

    Although our 'no entry' sign is highly logical in it's design, it is unfortunately nowhere near as conspicuous as the type of sign used elsewhere in Europe. That's the very reason the Vienna Convention opted against 'our' type of sign and in favour of the horizontal white bar 1n red d1sc.

    Anyone who is familiar with the area of Dublin which contains the Fruit and Vegetable market will know that there is a network of small short streets, many of which are one-way. The problem is, that in the chaos of the early morning market, dozens of trucks and vans are parked everywhere, blocking many of the no-entry signs. That, combined with the general practice of market forklift drivers ignoring one-way street regulations, and the painted on road signs being covered in various types of squashed fruits and veg, makes it very difficult for the uninitated to avoid taking a wrong turn. I only discovered relatively recently that Halston Street was one-way. :o

    This is not the problem. THE problem is who owns them; why the gardai have been turning a blind eye to minor parking offences countrywide perpetrated by them. (Any offences that aren't a serious threat to society)

    This is probably just coincidence!
