Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I want to make a website from scratch just as a personal project. Whats the cheapest way to go about it ? I'm looking at Register365 and seeing domains from 1.99 per year and a lite hosting package for 2.46 per month.

Is this the way to go for a novice looking for something to prod and poke at in the evenings ?

You could install a local server (WAMP/XAMPP) or MAMP for Mac if you are just trying to build a website. This will allow you to code it in your own time with no fees and only you can see it.

When it's all done then you can look into hosting options etc..

    Just an opinion.

    Try some of these at

if you're only prodding and poking of an evening. If it's a hobby thing you could try

The real thing I want is a little bit of exposure to the whole process from coding to sticking it on a server to updating etc. Having it available to others I suppose isnt that high on the priorities list. Local server might be the best place to start actually rather than paying for something I havent a clue how to use.

Micro AWS Linux instances are free.
