Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Medicine Grades

Hey everyone, I am doing medicine abroad at the moment and did exams as part of the course, and I was wondering what do the grades I get count towards here in Ireland? Do people with high grades get to do a certain specialty or is there any other advantage?

Your medical school will be asked to submit your centile within the class (ie the higher your centile the better you are) and this is used to rank intern jobs against other EU students. Higher up on the list means you're more likely to get your preference. After EU students, non-EU students are then ranked and given any remaining jobs. This is out of date but details the process: http://www.medicine.tcd.ie/assets/pdf/A-Guide-to-Application-and-Appointment-to-Intern-Training-in-Ireland-Stage-1.pdf

After the intern programme, medical school grades mean very little, and certainly won't exclude you from any postgraduate training schemes.
