I need to make occasionally long calls to a UK mobile. My phone has Skype but it still seems that they charge quite a lot. So is there a cheaper way of doing it ? I can't rely on the UK phones having Skype.

Usually I make the phone calls for free using viber app

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.viber.voip&hl=en

The other party will have to have this installed on the phone AFAIK

Are you prepaid or on a bill phone?

Three offer the ability to use your units to call UK landlines and Mobiles.

If you're trying to call a UK mobile from Ireland:
    - Skype is 24c per minute (as you're doing now) [€14.40 for an hour]
    - Tesco Mobile is 20c per minute [€12 for an hour]
    - LycaMobile.ie are 9c per minute [€5.40 for an hour]

Only when the other person has Viber, otherwise it just uses you normal network minutes.

The same would apply to viber I assume.

If ..... and only if, you have free or packaged minutes to 01-6850850, it will cost you 5c setup plus 7c per minute(PM) using 13434.ie

    UK Landlines ... 1c PM
    USA Landline .... 0.5c PM
USA Mobile seem to be free ATM but they used to cost 0.5c PM

I'm not associated with 13434 in anyway.
I've found the service to very good so far.
