Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Oh how sad irish people are and how obsessed they're with anyone in the spotlight. the over the top coverage and 7 page paper displays are ridicolous in comparison to a little box at the end of the page for ''two'' men that died of the exact same thing, i think its an absolute disgrace how fickle the irish society and media has become, people talk about the naivety about drug use in Ireland, jesus christ people its been rampant since the late 70's & 80s, why the uproar now?
People die everyday in Ireland from cocaine, heroin, alcohol and nicotine, nobody gives a **** about them, why? because nobody knows them, well who knew katie? i certainly didnt and 99.9% of the population didn't so for **** sake people get a grip.

Am...YES! I suppose it wasn't cocaine that killed those two lads in Waterford either was it? And what about that 24 year old in Wicklow? and that's just Ireland. If you think cocaine doesn't kill you need a reality check.

Whatever you might have thought of the girl while she was alive, it is tragic when anyone dies before their time.

I always dismissed her (and the Irish socialite scene) as idiotic and a waste of space. I still do, but reading recent coverage of her birthday party made me feel very sympathetic towards her. Very few people attended and she must have felt let down. Granted, she was moving in circles that aren't reknowned for their sincerity, but even so.

Ultimately I feel very sorry for her family. They've lost their young daughter.

Who honestly gives a **** if a load of more famous celebs than herself didn't turn up to her 24th, yes 24th birthday party? Why the hell was she having a 24th birthday party anyway, especially such a high profile one, and inviting photographers from all the papers? Pathetic

Did any of them die? I can think of at least one!

    Similar arguments in this line:
    - Guns don't kill people. People kill people.
    - Drink driving doesn't kill. Walls and trees do.

I reckon we've had a coke problem in this country for just over 5 years, maybe a bit longer.Thats around the time the price dropped and wages went up and it became popular with people in a big way. What we're seeing now is it killing people who've been using it for five years or more,it wears out your heart and basicly ages people from the inside out, similar to methampetamine.Be prepared fro lots more bodies hitting the ground in the next year or so.

As someone who's never taken any drugs (except the odd pain killer) I would love to be heartless and say 'serves you right' but thats not solving the problem either. Cocaine is EVERYWHERE, and sadly, I pretty much stand out as someone who has never taken it... (anyone else here in that boat?)[/QUOTE]

i'm in that boat :D i'm 24 next week i don't even like getting drunk
    RIP katy

I can't get over the idiot a few replies up... "Cocaine doesn't kill people.".. you must be 10... Cocaine is a major issue in the country and an overdose should be seen as suicide.. if you injest that stuff you are asking to die... i don't care about Miss French, but i am very sad for her parents as they will never get over the loss of their child.

In the last two hours today, thousands of people drove cars.

Did any of them die? No.

    That's just silly.

Suicide is the willful act of killing yourself.

Dying by accidental overdose is exactly that. An accident.

if this was Rosanna Davison or Glenda Gilson I could understand all the hype
I couldn't. What makes them more worthy of attention than Katy French? It's not like they've achieved loads more or anything. They do the exact same stuff she did.

+1. I've no prob with people doing coke at all - plenty of my friends do it - but when people try to maintain coke is harmless, that's quite irking.

Can't find a link to it but it was on page 3 of today's Examiner; the whole page was about her death and there was a box that just said something like 'The response from the internet' or something generic like that and then it quoted about five people. Mrs McGyver and TheMinister were two, can't remember who else. Think they were mainly expressing sympathy; one mentioned the insulting posts but if you hadn't read the thread then it probably wouldn't have made sense.

agree that its very sad but selfinflicted

No sign of it on the reputable news sources yet. Think it must have just been on the one of the tabloids perhaps. Hard to believe they got 65 of those 25kg bales off cork. I'm sure some were rescued by dealers.

I think that we can all agree that her party was a bit daft, but put yourself in her shoes for a few minutes, and think about how important publicity was to her. She surely must have felt a little bad that people didn't come to her party.

It is certainly on its way out in Dublin, and despite what the rags suggested never really caught on in D4 apart from a few groups, most probably because the quality is muck. It was a skanger exclusive drug,

Do you work for the Sindo?

Indeed I dont. However it certainly sounds like you read and believe the bile that they print. Knock counter strike on the head and view the world with your own eyes rather than made up newspaper stories.

You can sell anything of poor quality to skangers. Piss beer. Burberry. Matching his and hers tracksuits. Heavily cut cocaine of such awful quality that it would not be marketable anywhere else but Ireiand is just another to add on to the list.

I'm a "D4" person and I can honestly say Cocaine is not heavily used by D4 folk. It is however heavily used by the pathetic D4 wannabes.

    There is a difference...

Indeed. Really the only rubbish product common to both scobes and socialites is tobacco. Apart from that, skangers will buy crap, people with money wont. The only D4 types I ever knew into cocaine were already into their rave music. And by "D4 types" I merely mean they were from an upper class area, however they probably wouldnt be caught dead in Lillies etc etc.You simply dont get people whos idea of an ideal weekend is watching Republic of Loose or whatever crap in Whelans before flying down to Krystle doing cocaine. Obviously there are exceptions. It sounds like Katy and her friends mixed with lads who were either gangsters or well connected to gangsters. Therefore, they got good quality product, unlike the rest of D4 who have tried the street standard cocaine and talcum powder cocktail 2 or 3 times and decided "this is a load of sh1te, roysh". I think I have said this earlier, but Ive been to a thousand and one parties in gaffs belonging to D4 girls, and anyone doing coke in the living room would be thrown out. On the northside anyone with an ounce bag on him could well expect to take two girls upstairs with him. Cocaine is already a problem drug in this country because of the amount of skangers marrouveh- if it was actually good quality, imagine how big the problem would be. Hell, even Id be tempted to use it.

If Dustaz thinks otherwise he must be on coke (or else having hallucinations from whatever crap its mixed with in this country). Keep readin the oul Sindo grandad :D

Why, because he dopesnt believe what he reads in the press? Cocaine here is so heavily cut it simply could not be sold in any other country. Of course feck all D4s are buying it.

    Are you for real mate?
You don't sound as if you have a clue about drug use in this country,
but you're still ready to give your opinion. You're just making yourself sound like a Twat.

Indeed I do have a clue. Which is why I laugh my hole off reading the made up stories in the Sindo.

*shrugs* maybe its a different scene in Belfast but in Dublin its primarily scobies taking that sh1te. If anyone was to take out a bag in any "D4" house party ive been at they would be thrown out.

There's probably about 20 thousand people in that location and even if your a really popular guy, still at most you would know about 1 thousand people personally.

And out of that 1000 people who would let you know whether or not that they take drugs?

    Especially with your big mouth.:)

Take the blinkers off will you? An addict will buy whatever they can get their hands on, whether it's crap or not. It doesn't matter if you have money or not, if there are no other drugs around and the only thing available is a heavily cut piece of cocaine, then they will take it.

And I'm not just talking about the "D4 people" either, it goes both ways, so if all a "skanger" can get their hands on is a very good cut of cocaine, they'll take it, because they need their fix.

For those in the cheap seats: This is Celebrity and Showbiz. The next person to ignore all the warnings and go off-topic will be banned. While there is clearly a debate to be had about the cocaine issue, this isn't the place to have it.
