Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Fixing a buckled wheel

So noticed last night after a cycle that my rear carbon spoked wheel is ever so slightly buckled. Only reason I noticed it was once I put it back onto the bike stand the rear rim was rubbing on the brake pads when the wheel rotates.

This only happens in one area on the rim so from what I know I need to tighten the spokes to pull the rim back to true. I would say the wheel is only moving 3mm from true.

This a big job? Easy to do? I have installed gear levers, cables, hoods etc so I am not new to bike maintenance just with the spokes being carbon, I wanted to check here first for a few tip.

It's an easy enough job. I would normally tighten the two spokes on either side of buckle (plus the one at the buckle if there is a spoke right there). The key is very small adjustments ; 1/8 turn each time. Make sure the spoke key properly fits the nipples or else you can round them - it is often possible to start turning the nipple with a size too big and then the spoke key slips.

Thanks for the tip, appreciate it. I just need to get it sorted as soon as possible. Training for the Ring of Kerry this year and dont want to have to drop the bike in the LBS.
