Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi folks,
My mother's Mini has lost the cap from the coolant reservoir and as a result the tank is completely empty. Can the coolant simply be topped up or does the system need to be flushed to eliminate air locks?

    Thanks in advance!

It can just be topped up if she know what coolant is in there already.
First fill it almost to top then start car and let it run a minute then top up (with engine running) until level is stable at max mark.
You might need to "burp" car if the heating in the cabin isn't hot enough.

Are you planning to do it? Do you have a cap?

Hi Biko, I've no idea what coolant is currently in it... sounds like that's a problem. No cap either but shouldn't be a problem to pick one up

In that case take this opportunity to drain the remaining coolant and fill with approved coolant.
It's not a difficult job DIY.
