Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi

I'm using the ultimate version of cabbage. My provider is Tesco. The account is verifiable but when sending messages it mostly just fails. I've checked I have an allowance of text messages and these can be used via the website. My phone is a motorola moto G

    Thanks

Desktop and Android Cabbage, working OK on o2 here.

    Hello,
Thanks for all the great work in making the Android App.
I have just noticed that since quite some time Cabbage Ultimate has not be saving outgoing message to the default SMS app. This was very useful feature because the phone then backed up all the messages in the default app to one place where I could search them.

Has this feature stopped working or am I doing something wrong.

Also, since a while the app has been putting the cursor a character ahead of where it should be when writing a message. Is this a known problem or am I the only one experiencing the problem.

    Thanks.

Really? Are you using the free version of Cabbage or the one that costs 99 cent? I always used the free version never had an issue. But it stopped working for me (02, Android) a few weeks ago. I've tried deleting it from my phone and reloading it. Today I tried loading on the version that you pay 99 cent for. But when I put in my username and password and it tries to connect to the 02 website I'm getting this message:
Request failed while trying to get remaining messages. Aborted: java.net
UnknownHostException: Unable to resolve host ''www.messaging.o2online.ie'' : No address associated with hostname

I am on Meteor and it works fine for me apart from the above mentioned issues.

If saving sent messages is a feature you would like you could give SwiftSMS a try.
Disclaimer: I am one of the developers.

If you have any questions of issues we have a thread over in the Mobile Application forum.

There are several choices under Swiftsms in the play store, which one should I download?

It's the one with a blue/white icon and the name "SwiftSMS".
I don't think I should post links to SwiftSMS here, but you can find a link to it in the SwiftSMS thread over in the Mobile Application forum.

Are you outside Ireland tv3tg4? I found out on Fluffy's forum just there that O2 now require a second step verification while you are abroad, before you can send a webtext they text you a verification code.

This must be why it's stopped working for cabbage, but only I presume for users that are using cabbage from abroad. Maybe that's why it's working for some but not for others with 02.

Is the desktop version working with Vodafone these days?

I can log in on the Vodafone website and send texts, but I'm getting the following error when trying to send a message from the application:

    Cabbage
    Error: (-8) Precheck: Invalid response.
    OK

The diagnostic tool returns the following error on "Check Messages client side":
Failed:Error: (-5) Invalid response received from the network site.

Clicking to see more info, shows this message on the Vodafone site:

We're sorry, an error has occurred

You were unable to access this service because of a problem with one of our servers. We're working to resolve the problem and the service will be available again shortly.

    HTTP 500 - Server Error

Hasn't been working with vodafone for several months and there's no sign of the developer doing anything to fix it unfortunately.

I've been using Jelly SMS for the last few months and am happy with it, not as good as cabbage though. You still have to type in the simple 4 letter Capthca.

I tried Jelly SMS and while the desktop version works for single texts (with the captcha, which doesn't bother me) it fails on group texts, only sending to one recipient in the group).

I contacted the dev through Facebook earlier today and he assures me that the paid for Mac version died work... I'll be testing this later.

    Hiya. Brilliant App, thanks.

I was just wondering will it be possible to send international webtexts with the app again any time? It was really the only reason I used it and it was a fantastic asset!!

No, to send messages to UK mobiles from within Ireland.

Vodafone put a thing in place recently that when you send a webtext to an international number they text you an authorisation code that you have to then enter in a wee box on the website before the text will go though. On cabbage there is no box.

On cabbage, you type the message, send it, do the captha and then you get the text back from vodafone but there's no place to put it.

    Vodafone the hoors.
At least international texting still works fon cabbage if u are with 02 as long as you are inside Ireland.
Outside Ireland Cabbage (or its competitors) doesn't work at all anymore though :(

Wonder how they manage that? I'm no IT guru but I thought the Cabbage App was only a conduit to the main web text site and that any IP or location discovery would have to be done from where the Cabbage servers are held.

The phone companies must hate this app! If they wanted they could do something like it themselves but it would cost them credit.

Vodafone have an app of their own. It absolutely pales in comparison compared to cabbage.

I didn't know that Stevie. I'll have a look, but it'll be hard to compete with cabbage.

Do you guys use the captcha app? I gave up on it a while back there and just enter it manually.

Yeah somehow the fact you are connecting to cabbage from a non-irish IP address is detectable by 02.ie (and vodafone.ie afaik) and that code that they send you is req'd. Cabbage & its competitors can't process that code thing.

Android 4.4/KitKat disabled the ability to directly write to the SMS store on a device unless the app is registered as the default SMS app.
This means Cabbage Free cannot save your sent messages anymore.

Android app and Desktop exe both seem to be down on O2, or is it just me?

Edit: Android app working again but desktop not, giving error 7.

The elastic band has snapped in O2. Currently no-one can log in. They're working on it...

That's a pure balls in fairness. One of the best things about cabbage over using the webmail on vodafone's site was saving outgoing messages.

Sorry for the late reply. I was away, but was able to use orBot (free from Play store) with an exit node set to {IE} and strict exit node checked, in settings.
This was on O2 and it worked. May work for others, but not sure about activation of accounts etc. I think someone tried previously and it failed, but worth a try.
If there are a few exit nodes open in Ireland, if one fails, disconnect Tor and try again.
There may well be other VPN apps, that one could try use, but not all allow for setting an exit node country to Ireland.
Hola have an Android app, but I have never tried it on a phone, but the PC browser version allows for setting Ireland.

Sorry I can't post links, but both apps are easy found. "Orbot: Proxy with Tor" "Hola Free VPN"

Have a good weekend all :)

Wow thanks so much for taking the time to post this. Ok have installed 'Orbot proxy with Tor' and have checked strict exit node in settings. When you say 'with an exit node set to {IE}' do you mean that in the settings I click on 'Exit nodes' and when a text input box appears called 'Enter Exit nodes' I manually type the text {IE} in and press ok? Or should there be a drop down menu where I select Ireland?

    Manually type the text {IE}

I should have said in original post tht orbot requires rooted device and Halo will work on both rooted and unrooted devices.

    Best of luck.

The phone has to be rooted, basically means you have full access to all system files.
Would take to long to explain how, but XDA forums is best place to find the specific method for your device.

My friend told me today that Eirtext, an Iphone app, is working for her when her phone is outside Ireland, sickened!! The developers of Eirtext have obviously figured out a way to overcome the authorisation code that the websites like 02 send out....

Ok just downloaded Halo, it asked me what apps I wanted to open on the phone, so I selected Cabbage. So it opened Cabbage through Halo, and it asked me what country I wanted to open Cabbage in so I selected Ireland from a drop down menu - and it worked!!! I love you !!!!! You've just saved me a fortune!! :D:D:D:D
