Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hot Water Problem..

    Hi Guys,,

We had gas heating installed a few years ago,,and had no problems up to now.. (Other than the price of gas):D

Anyway,,over the last few days,we realised that as We were trying to heat the water,,it was giving little or no hot water for the time We put it on.

I have no idea about central heating or gas systems,,but I was looking in the airing cupboard upstairs where the tank is,,and there are 2 of these blue boxes on some of the pipework... (blue Horstmann Zoneplus F222m)

It seems from what I can see,it that when We put on the hot water,,an orange light comes on on one of these switches only, and that switch gets slightly warm. As you turn it off again,,you can hear a little "whirring" sound from it,,and the light goes off.

However,,with the other switch,,nothing happens. No orange light,,no noise.
I may be imagining things,,but it does seem that We get some hot water upstairs,,but none downstairs.

So,,is this switch Our problem?? If so,,can it be reset? Or does it need to be replaced?

Thanks for any help or advice.

that blue box is a motorized valve and probably is your problem, it can be opened manually but you are better off to change the actuator(blue box part). i assume the radiators are heating fine

    Hi DeSmasher,,

    Yes,the radiators are working fine..

It's a council house,,so I best get onto them to get it sorted.

    Thanks for your answer.

If you are pressing the button on the timer for hot water and the valve is not activating it may also be a problem with the thermostat on the cylinder not allowing power over to the motorised valve. (Presuming it has been set up correctly).
