Packet loss - UPC Dublin

    Is there anyone who plays BF 4 and has BIG problems with packet loss using broadband from UPC? From several weeks, online gaming in BF4 during the day is actually impossible. Only at night i can comfortable play without lags. I'm not downloading nothing in the background, etc.
    I live in Clondalkin, how it looks in other parts of Dublin guys.

    I'm in ballinteer and normally its fine.

    Thats very unusual for it to be a problem during the day and fine at night.You would expect it to be the other way round.

    I presume you have tried a few servers?
    Have you tested your connection on the upc speedtest during the day and night to see if the speedtest results are different?
    Have you ran any ping tests to the bf4 servers or any sites using the cmd prompt during the day to make sure its your end thats having the problem?

    I did it all for what you write several times. I have a dozen screenshots (WinMtr app) which shows a loss of packets occurs only from a pool of IP belonging to the UPC (84.16.133.97 etc). Of course I tried several dozen different servers BF4 and bf3 in the whole of Europe and only at night I can play without lag.

    Internet - WWW, emails etc is good and stable. I did speedtests few times (120/10), all good aswell.
    The problem started about a month ago, before everything was ok, even as 3-5 computers was simultaneously attached to my router.
    Since about a week i'm waiting for an explanation and help of the matter by the UPC, so far same answers: we working on it.

    (Sorry, my english is not perfect, apologies.)

    Btw. Is there any BF4 (working) servers located i Ireland?

    Thats the problem with upc,its great when it works but can take some time to get a fix from them.

    There are no servers located in Ireland as far as i know but i use this UK based one and my connection is normally very stable to it.

    Can you run a pingtest using the cmd box to that server to compare to my results.

    Minimum = 18ms, Maximum = 1366ms, Average = 33ms

    Pings aren't everything as ICMP traffic is inherently deprioritized by routers. Do have the capacity to run the mtr command?

    To router is connected TV and laptop, my PC connected by a cable. Until recently, other computers connected to the router does not interfere with playing online. The rest of the family watched Youtube, browsed web pages and sometimes even downloaded some stuff from torrents etc and same time i was normally playing online

    They may not be in Austria, UPC may simply have that as the geo location entry in the range whois info. What specific IPs were they?

    Those are indeed fairly local nodes. Raise a ticket with UPC, and show them the mtr results with packet loss.
