Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Bacarra was almost a trim level across the range. Very rare obviously but very nicely finished. It was fitted on the 5, 19 and 25. I don't recall it on Clios but I could be wrong.

We only got it here though on the last of them to flog the things. They used it quite a bit, like the L&K Skodas.

I think it was only a trim level on 94 and 95 MY 19's. I'm not even sure if it was a trim level in Ireland on other models but it certainly was on UK cars.

    Anyone mentioned the RS500 Sierra?

Looking at the wiki it says all 500 were sold in the uk. I've personally spotted and pictured one here in Perth WA.

I passed it a few times to try and get a photo for here but the owner was always sitting in it.

TWR (Tom Walkinshaw Racing) put their touches to Mazda RX7 and 626 coupes in the 80s, think I remember there being a TWR Jag aswell.

Here's one of the RX7s, think there were only 25 made.

mate of mine imported one of there into dublin a few years back with full roll cage-2 comfy skinny Bride seats and a supercharged 4ag:cool:

    amazing car:D

wow. why would anyone want that "Race Base" EK?

it's like a **** replica you'd see on donedeal. i was thinking it would be bought for track use only, but what good would those seats be on the track. its weird. must have been a very cheap alternative. was the no carpet standard?

hey cars like this and lancer evo RS models came like that as you would be fitting roll cages and full bucket seats and safety gear and binning the base carpets and useless seats:D;)

Styling?? There's no styling to love. Could never see the attraction they held at all. Changed an alternator on one once...... That ordeal just compounded my dislike for them.

Each to their own - I think that looks MUCH nicer then your typical modern jacked up in the air I am really a car but pretending to be an SUV modern Quasqui type thing.

Theres honesty in something like that - its not pretending to be anything more then a 5 door premium hatch.

Oh and yeah - I forgot - back then - premium car mean premium CAR not a premium badge :D

I think the original shape 9000 worked better then the CS version that came out in late 1991 - and that front end from the CD saloon works well imo.

Have never owned one - but the general vibe ive read on forums from those who have owned one or still do own one - is that they are fantastic cars.

But ive never owned or driven one so can't say how true that is

Anything is better than those SUV's for the paddy market with their weedy chape tax Diesel engines. The sister's ex always drove them, he might still be driving one now, he's that kind of bangernomics guy. He absolutely loved them. I must say the drivers cockpit was a brilliant place to be and he eventually let me drive one. I wasn't long driving at the time which probably explained his reluctance but I was very impressed at its acceleration and before I knew it I was hitting the magic 100 mph. He didn't mind as I was never a boy racer and we really enjoyed the few miles of a spin. Still ugly from the outside though.......Kinda... Aw feck you've just got me to change my mind. I like it..

Fantastic car in any colour, when they still had some of the Saab DNA intact, don't get me wrong the newer models are still nice just not saab'y enough.

Just done a bit of reading up on the 405 Mi16. Seems the red one I have linked is actually a special edition and not just rare.

    Wiki:
Mi16 Le Mans - 2.0 L 16-valve, Special edition Mi16, came with special edition red paint, alcantara (leather/suede) seats and alloys. 1,000 produced.

    Also the 1988–1992 Mi16 1.9L 16-valve engine had 160 bhp where as the newer 1992–1994 Mi16 - 2.0 L 16-valve, only had 155 bhp.
