Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

OS9 and Internet Connection

    Hey folks,

    I have a Rev A 233mhz iMac, running OS9. I've had a problem recently with connecting to the internet in that I can connect and stay browsing for about five minutes but I'll then suddenly get a message from Apple Remote Access telling me I've been disconnected. No reason is given, I'm just cut off.

    This happens nearly every time I connect to the web and it's frustrating. I've even gone so far as to reinstall OS9 and the problem still isn't gone.

    I'm using an older version of IE, 5 I think. If I upgraded to firefox might this solve the problem? Does firefox even work with a pre-OSX OS?

    Any help is appreciated. thanks!!

    No firefox wont work with OS 9 (you might find an old download link for Netscape, or a Mozilla version perhaps?). I had a very similar problem years ago with my iMac G3. I never figured out the reason why it disconnected, but, after moving the machine downstairs to the kitchen it never disconnected. So, I assumed it was just a faulty extension hooked up in my bedroom that just kept dropping the connection.

    Like I said, I never got a solid answer, but my best guess was a faulty line. If you can, get a second machine (a friends laptop or something?...) and see what happens on the same line. Or move the machine to another extension point and try that.

    TBH, I don't think it's your browser.

    Well I have a Dell laptop which connects just fine. I'll try moving the Mac to the kitchen and see what happens. Cheers!
