Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ford Focus Power Steering Pressure Switch Leaking

    My wife came home today saying the steering had gone on the car. After a good bit of checking it seems its leaking fluid out of the middle of the electrical connector that goes into the end of the steering pump.

    Its a 04 Ford Focus 1.4 Petrol (about 95K miles on clock). Is replacing the Pressure Switch, I'm assuming the diaphram on it is switch is damaged, likely to fix the problem and how difficult is it to replace?

    I'm hoping the 20 mile drive home from when the problem was noticed didn't ruin the pump completely.

    Switches do tend to leak on those focus its an easy fix just dissconnect it unscrew the old one and screw in your new one.
    It will whine for a bit after refilling just turn it from lock to lock and it should be grand.

    Thanks I'll be ringing the dealers part department first thing tomorrow. I'm really annoyed I didn't spot it earlier. I saw a few drops of oil on the drive a couple of days ago and checked my car all over underneath and didn't find anything. My wife was out at the time with her car and by the time she got back I had forgotten all about it.

    Just to finish off. Pressure switch was €56, very easy to remove and replace, plus €8 for oil - job done. No need even to jack the car up as the pressure switch is right at the front of the engine. Just have to get a syringe and remove a good few mil of oil as I over filled the reservoir.
