Puttin RAM into Dell laptop does it void warranty and for that matter if you stick your own hard drive in as well. I mean will they only gurantee the parts you didn't replace

No. They'll even sell you the ram and hd at a rediculous price so you can do it yourself.

They will guarantee their parts. Your warranty will be void though if they deem that an issue arose due to your upgrade. This can basically be translated into - don't make a mess of any upgrade you do.
