Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hi, I was wondering how difficult or easy it is to set up a scrap car/metal yard. It would only consist of a few cars to start with but will gradually get bigger. Anybody have any insight in this field.?

Do the world a favour, if you're going to offer a collection service, collect when you say you will.

I had a car, phoned scrapmycar.ie and a scrap company in Tuam (got a number off someone, don't have their name). Both wanted to give me €100 for the car, both were willing to give me collection dates multiple times, neither ever bothered showing up - or ringing me for that matter, I always seemed to be ringing them.

That's a way of running a business that will ensure I never try to deal with either ever again.

I would imagine it's more difficult than easy nowadays to set up an End of Vehicle Life disposal facility, what with all the environmental and planning regulations to be complied with.
If you are serious about this, you'll be talking to your local authority and the relevant section in the DoE.

Thanks for the reply. Yes I guessed it would be quite difficult. I'll have a look at this link and see what it involves. Thanks

A local (huge ) scrapyard was always getting into trouble over things like waste oil, fuel spills , health and safety... He was closed down loads of times but is finally gone for good... I would imagine he refused to play ball with authorities at all....

Just seen this so sorry for the bump, but that couldnt have been scrapmycar.ie as we dont pay for the car under any circumstances. In all likelihood you are confusing us with scrapmycarireland, a cyber squatter that is giving us a bad name. See my blog at scrapmycar.ie/blog for clarification

Thanks for the clarification. We'll leave it there as this is a necro thread.
