Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    I don't know why anyone would really bother with luthite, it just seems wrong.

    I'd love to get a load of similar guitars, same pickups, bridges, strings, necks, construction but different body woods and do an A/B comparison.

    I did an A/B comparison between an EDR470EX and my RG270DX and for tone my RG tore it apart. If it's not wood it won't sound like wood. And guitars are made of wood for a reason!

    Did you adjust the tone for each guitar though? I'd love to see how much of a difference EMG's make too.

    They're just EMG-designed as far as I know. I didn't adjust the tone. I just took eveything at ten with the same amp at the same setting and the luthite body lost badly to the wood.

    Could well have been the pickups too.

    Na, I meant get two identical guitars, one with proper EMGs, one with SD's for DiMarzios and just see.
