Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

VERY EXCITING: Prisoners are on a roof & won't come down WHY ARE WE SHOUTING?

Around 60 prisoners who refused to leave an exercise yard at Cloverhill Prison have been returned to their cells.

Prison officers confronted the inmates and locked them back in their cells this afternoon.

Two other inmates remain on the roof after climbing up there earlier.

Prison authorities are working to bring them down.

What do we think will happen here, then?

Prisoners are like cattle. As soon as they realize they outnumber their jailers, we will all be fúcked.

    Are Irish prison guards armed?

if this was America, they'd have been shot by now.

This used to happen quite a bit in the 80's.

They could have picked a nicer day to spend sunning themselves on the roof.

Lock anyone who was up on the roof in their cell for a minimum of 6 months. They won't do it again. If they were due to be released, tough ****.

I only learned the eru had bean bag rounds for shotguns from the story about the guy that nearly blinded the gard in Cork (iirc) I'm sure some practice wouldn't go astray ...........

    Whats exciting?

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

So if they can get prisoners off the roof, can they get Tom Cruise out of the closest?

So if they can get prisoners off the roof, can they get Tom Cruise out of the closest?

Unlikely, as we are outnumbered by the cows, who will undoubtedly rise up any day soon. Thus Tom will remain in his closet, for fear of the bovine apocalypse.

They do seem to have a love of climbing roofs.

This one was up on the roof of Mountjoy only a few weeks ago, eating a bag of drugs that had been thrown up there.

    http://www.independent.ie/irish-news/prisoner-in-mountjoy-roof-standoff-as-he-climbs-to-retrieve-drugs-package-31291801.html
He was in a highly intoxicated state. The drugs were taken," a source said last night.

Is RTE or anyone doing a live video link from the prison?

Seems a bit lazy if they're not.
