Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

So this is it, cant hurt to try it.

If you wish to take part in the album, please post here stating the name of your band.

    Rules

    -Only one submission per band
    -Only one band per user
-Band must NOT be signed to a label

    Requirments

-One member of the band MUST be a boards.ie member.
-The band will be asked to provide an mp3 copy of one ORIGINAL song at no less than 128kbps, not immediately, but at some stage in the process.

This thread will be open for a long time to allow as many people as possible to get in on it. Bear in mind, that each soing will be judged no only on song quality, but recording quality. Ideally these tracks will be taking place in all of the boardies music libraries, so the must be pretty listenable. I will edit in the name of every band that decides to take part, along with the user associated with that band as they post in the thread.

    Band Name: Jack of Speed
    Song Title: Basics for Happiness

You can listen to and download the song, plus the rest of our last EP here. Um yeah, we've had no interest from any labels, so no need to worry about that. The quality should be good enough. Recorded it in Fastlane Studios last summer.

    Band: Paligulus
    Song: Ready To Begin
    EP: For the Mantlepiece

I suppose there's no harm in trying (its only my blood sweat and tears after all!!!). Have received positive feedback but nothing even remotely official. You can listen here (using Bebo because people are more likely to quickly listen on line than download from box.net etc...)

Sounds great. As the mod of songwriting and music production it would be remiss of me not to put a song forward! Any idea when it would be released?

it would all depend really, i'd like to get as many people as possible involved, so we can get the best selection of music. Then by the time we have gathered everyones tracks, equalised the volume for ease of listening, gotten a name and created artwork, we could realistically be looking at April or May. Better to take our time though, and do it right than rush it and get something of bad quality

Who's the judge? Are you deciding whats in and whats out? just curious.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,165 ✭✭✭insinkerator

well the plan is to get people to sign up and submit a song, divide them into categories, then get people to vote, or perhaps score each category and then pick the top few sonsgs from each category and stick them together.

The judging will be done by the all the users on boards who want to judge

Has it been decided yet what will be done with this album? Is it to be hosted somewhere? What are the options available? Just interested....working on a track for submission at the moment.

it would be nice to have it on a CD, but that would cost money to produce, and then if it came to selling it it would rasie a lot of copyright questions and stuff which we dont really want. Unless of course someone is willing to pay for the CD production etc and legally advise us on the entire matter ;)

It would be great if we could host it here on boards, but that would involve boards paying for a lot of extra bandwidth, but tbh i dont think we should approach anyone about that until we have the album properly underway. I mean so far we only have about 20 submission. Im gonna start PMing after college today, and if anyone knows of any bands that would like to get in on this, perhaps ye could pass on the message.

I have already sent out some Emails but for some reason all the acts that i contacted have nothing ready, most of them dont think their stuff is good enough to record just yet! You could contact downloadmusic.ie and maybe they could help out with the issue of distribution etc. Just a thought :)
