Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I don't know enough of it to think China should be blamed for what is going on there.

Does anybody want to educate me?

    Here is a question list:

    where is darfur?
    Is it a country?
Who is fighting with the government and for what reason?
China sold Arms to the government but did anyone sell arms to the opposition?
Why should that government not buy arms from China?
Do the Irish government have arms? if so, where does the irish government buy its arms from?

    Musgraves I think.

That's where you are bang wrong my simian friend. Its a well known fact that Ireland buys its' arms from the same place as Heather Mills buys her leg.

Why should that government not buy arms from China?
As I understand it the problem is not that somebody is buying arms from china or that china should not be allowed to sell arms to anyone. The problem is that the americans tell us that nobody should supply arms to certain groups who they deem as being morally wrong/oppresive/etc. So because of the Sudan governments role in dafur the americans do not want that government to have weapons. The objection is that China is willing to sell to the government as opposed to the government buying from china. If it were a european country selling to them there would also be pressure on them to stop, or at least there should be (I think france supplies weapons to Iran, or was it Saddams Iraq? and we don't hear too much about it) .
America also refuses to deal with a bunch of other african nations for some similar moral reasons.

edit: the people on our military forum will be able to tell you where Ireland gets its weapons from.

Sudan has oil - China needs oil
China has weapons - Sudan needs weapons

substitute "Sudan" with an African country of your choice
    substitute "oil" with relevant minerals
substitute weapons with hard cash and you get the picture...

    Africa re-colonised.

    Darfur is a different issue.
