Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Drain de-clogging

    Morning all,

So the sink in the bathroom has gotten clogged - water is still passing through it but slowly and it needs a clean-out.

There was a bottle of stuff I got before in a SuperValu when I lived in Cavan that was great. Just add it to a bucket of water, pour it down the plug hole and wait 20 mins. Job done!

Unfortunately I can't remember the name of the stuff and my now local SuperValu doesn't have it.

Any suggestions for an alternative product that doesn't require pulling the sink apart?
I have a Dunnes and Woodies nearby but that's about it (D18 - I honestly don't understand the fascination with this part of the city because there's feck all in the area, but that's another thread :p) - but will go over to Blanch where the options are a lot better if necessary.

    Thanks in advance.

It should be very easy to open the u-bend and clean it out.
just remember to not empty it into the sink you just took it off! (its *very* easily done!)

Unfortunately it's one of these fancy bathrooms/sinks with a cover/panel that'd have to be removed and I don't have a full toolkit to remove bolts etc and not very DIY inclined anyway :o

    Ahhh.
If there is a Lidl or Aldi nearby, they also sell drain gunk for dissolving all the hair and crap.
Be warned, they contain bleach and any splashing will eat through your clothes :(

There's an Aldi just up the road from the office alright. Might take a wander up at lunchtime and see what they have.

    Cheers :)
